cvale wrote: Wed Apr 08, 2026 8:13 pm It would be nice to say there isn't anything in Zebra 2 that you can't do in Zebra 3, at least.
I took a deeper look into Zebra Legacy these days, and my gut feeling is there are still quite a number of things you can't possibly do in Zebra 3 (yet):

Zebra 3 has only 4 filter slots (although they sound better to my ears) compared to the 4 VCF/2 XMF/8 Diva filters in Zebra Legacy. No notch filter as filter option. All single filter so no SEM style morph/sweep. Zebra 3 also only has linear envelopes and 4 (morphable) MSEGs, so a few things might be harder to do in Zebra 3 as well.

Maybe we'll get there one day...
To be fair, after posting I did go back and open Zebra 2 and played around with the formant filter in there and it wasn't as cool as I remembered it being ;) In fact, I'm pretty sure it's just a crossfade similar to what we have now in Zebra 3. So I might have been talking out my ass on that particular point, although I do stand strongly by my larger point about Guides not being the ideal way to handle morphing of oscillator FX parameters. And I'm definitely surprised more people don't seem to care (yet).
Maybe they don't care because they don't agree with your opinion?
Tautology alert.
Don't think so...
Not a matter of opinion, unfortunately (for you).

this beta vs. final release in regards to "tagging sound presets":

will this switch again, will we lose our tags again ?

( yes, i`ve read about a workaround.....but i again just updated. could happen again.....)
means: should i wait with doing that work ?

vs. optics:
i LOVE how Zebralette 3 looks ! it just feels good and gives good mood ;)
Hope to see one day a light theme in that vain. U-He, user- free share, or aftermarket.

and again: Thanks ! it is awesome to play with Zebra 3. It is so so SO good ! Much respect dear sirs.
"Plugin has turned Drug now"....and the business knows it.

Overall, I really love the new GUI. Kudos to the team.

I did prefer the overall look of the perform tab in the prior release. The lighting effects on the keys, gradients in the dropdowns, and very spartan wheels aren't things I love. But the rest of the GUI looks great to me. Love the return the zebra stripes on the preset page.

I removed the gradients behind the menus.
I made all the menus a color so they stand out from all the label text.
I'm still playing with the colors of modules and modulators.
I also moved the DC Offset button. Somehow it bothered me being right below the volume knob. :hihi:

How to remove the gradients? It looks better without it!
Backup the scripts folder (in case you mess stuff up :tu: )
In the Scripts folder, open the file "Zebra3.txt" in a text editor.

Line 381 is:
COLOUR name='Module Display BG' rgba='11' location='0.000000' rotation='0'

change the rgba='11' to rgba='00' and that will get rid of the menu gradients.

What that is doing is setting the alpha level of the gradient. '00' makes the gradient invisible.

Save, and then open a new instance of Zebra 3 to see the result.

Zebralette 3 in its dark form in particular is one of my favourite plugin GUIs - I do hope we don't lose that too - it's one of the few plugins I would describe as elegant

Looks way better. Where are the resources to understand, how I can change the colors myself?
Some but not all of the GUI colors can be changed in the Zebra3.txt file located in the Scripts folder.

Keep in mind that next time there's a new beta, it will overwrite your edits. And that is a good thing cause there will be a bunch of refinements and fixes.

I have saved this method and will repeat the procedure in the next version. Although it may not be necessary anymore.

I like the new UI, with the colors and the visual aid on the filters. It's all much easier on the eyes. Thanks!

Thanks, I am going to investigate on that :D

Edit: Done. Case closed. 40.000 line txt-files are not for me :-?

I'm surprised that Resolution and Curve Math are the top buttons/widgets on the Oscillator front panel. They seem to be the sort of thing you'd put in the editor advanced section. Then you could move detune nearer to unison, as its current position over to the left makes it feel unrelated to unison.

Post

Also, on the front panel of the filter, the db/oct and filter type are two kind of dimensions to the filter (so the table you get in the centre makes sense). However, the filter front panel with the 4 arrows has the type and db/oct on the up and down arrows as if they are opposites of the same dimension. I would expect the db/oct value to be on the side arrows.

IMO, the Guides cover most use cases. Much of the time, a single Guide curve is sufficient.

And when morphing is desired, there's the option to use Curves to create complex morphs.

Yup... it's kinda intimidating!

But I hated the menu gradients enough that I had to go figure out how to get rid of them... then I decided to tweak something else... and something else... now I figured out pretty much everything. :tu:
