systmu wrote:Whats the deal with this H-eq? I hear it doesn't stand up compared to fabfilter and DMG Eq series or even the $20 tonebooster EQ. You can get some color yeah but it's not great compared to whats come out the last few years. I'm on the fence with this one even at such a cheap price. Thoughts?
I grabbed it now. Well, though i really began to feel that eq's (the same as compressors) too much in owned list, but just h-eq was once in my wish list long time ago, so, i just thought why not for 25$, and grabbed without try demo. The main scares was about often mentioned in forums cpu usage in h-eq. Well, i install and surprisingly it's absolutely no this problem here, even in my old PC, just something like 3-4%. For compare as example - really hungry this is GEQ Modern, which eat more than 10% for me. (GEQ Classic version better, aprox the same as H-Eq).
Well, about something interesting that found after short test, it's perhaps THD level feature, which produce interesting distortions at bigger levels, with very different character for each "analog" algorithm. Well, again, it's mid\side ability (though it's not a something special today for for eq's perhaps, but anyway).
It seems it all.
About built-in note keyboard - slightly disappointment was that it's not controlable from midi (just by mouse click), could have been some interesting addition for fx purposes.

If someone doesn't use their $50 voucher and only need a $25 one, I'd be also happy to swap... :)

I ended up getting the DMG audio Equick. It's so awesome! I guess I'll have to upgrade to Equlibirum some day too. The quality is still superb though and Equlibrium has all those vintage Eq curves!. Does anyone know how long the Eventide Ultratap intro price is good for?

I have $25 voucher too. If there's any nice guy left, I'd appreciate if someone wants to trade their bigger voucher :D

The interface of the new FloppyTron looks to be a lot more complex, with morphing abilities for both patches and effects. The promo vids are really good.

Oof. The bx_opto compressor was too good to pass at these prices. After the $25 voucher, it comes down to... $14 for such a sweet opto. Hnnnng :phones:

The Floppytron is pretty awesome, but their website sucks...
I was unable to get a hold of the correct Rubik font to make it readable.

Bought it anyway, quite happy with it.

This is not a very good advice - buying by Kontak.hub you loose big deal of the sale. They add tax, which Sampleso doesn´t.

P.s. The Floppytron is one of coolest little thing for a long time. Kontakt instruments have really got better and taken a big step forward during the past 3 years. :tu:

So I bought the Spitfire library as well, because it was only $3 bucks
and for charity.

If all you're after is the basic floppy drive sound, the spitfire library
will do the job. Their base sounds are not so different. I wouldn't
really consider either library to be a comprehensive sampling of
all the sounds you could get out of a floppy drive.
That said, the Floppytron is a much more interesting treatment
of the base sound IMHO. With all it's included features, its far
more of an instrument than the other.

I find the sound very interesting, its not a sound you're going
to find replicated in many synths, although, no doubt you
could probably do it with something like Bazille.

Anyway, if you like industrial, glitch, or trance type sounds, you'll
probably like the Floppytron... Its well worth the money IMHO.
No doubt Rob Zombie or the Propellerheads would dig it... :tu:

-Cheers
