I don'[t know about you guys but I constantly find Ampsim plugins a real dissappointment. Guitar Rig, Waves GTR (had high hopes) and Amplitube 1 all were hyped so much to only deliver so little of actual use.
By USE I mean actual professional commercial applications.
Good grief why do they keep trying to cram EVRY single permutaion of amp into the sims at compromised quality when i'd gladly drop my dosh on a Plug that nails perfectly JUST ONE AMP MODEL!
Quality over quantity ANY DAY for me.
Maybe that's why Simulanalog JCM 900 completely OWNS them all. Actually ROCKS.

It's IK Multimedia, what did you expect?A3ntar wrote:..Still no updates on their website beside them removing their upgrades promotion that ended 31 December 2005.
I am not even sure that the release date is NAMM 2006. It might be just a yet other occasion for them to demo the product.

I cant agree here Greg.Lunch Money wrote:I love Simulanalog as much as the next guy, but it's not really all THAT much better than anything out. First time I've ever seen freeware be overhyped.
Greg
JCM was the one, I wanted to beat.
Believe me, this was very hard to do.
There is so much going on soundwise in the JCM,
it was simply the best best amp sim before XmasTube.

I agree totally,I tried to like them but they seemed noisier than just about any sim Iv'e tried and seem to suffer from less natural sustain and unrefined digital distortion not quite perfected yet,but to be fair their all a bit noisy, but with SA you have to gate it to the point where it just dies sustain-wise. The way I feel bout those plugs is they were one of,if not the first to kick that technology off and into the races,AT and GR 2 brought that technology a bit further, but not enough to my ears. It's too bad the creators of SA didn't actively further their development, but as it stands now I can barely use AT or GR2,and I can't use SA at all.Nice for free and still close to what's out there but...............Lunch Money wrote:I love Simulanalog as much as the next guy, but it's not really all THAT much better than anything out. It's the price/performance ratio.Lunch Money wrote:I love Simulanalog as much as the next guy, but it's not really all THAT much better than anything out. First time I've ever seen freeware be overhyped.
Greg
See on the other hand how many people complained about e.g. GR2: It's not bad but at that price?
Here we go ...
Best wishes, FRitz

Agreed.Lunch Money wrote:Indeed. For the price it can't be beat. And I really DO think that it's excellent. But it's not an amp sim miracle the way some people seem to think.

.. i hope i can at least test it anywhere someytime ..
well, i´d need to test it on my own speakers actually, otherwise it couldnt convince me buying it. (at least not now since i got used to GR2).
i suppose we´ll see this ilok thingie coming with AT2, but then again nobody knows if iLoks will still be used in 2009. so there´s hope that IK will release a normal demo in 2010/2011.
(or NAMM 2012? sounds more realistic ..
.. )
