Fleer wrote:I'm reading it this way: if you've got (lots of) T-RackS plugins (or even the old MAX), you'll be able to upgrade for $99 while also getting the new engine with those four new plugins. But there will also be a T-RackS 5 CS Custom Shop version available free of charge. Remember how AmpliTube 4 CS (free Custom Shop version) allows all AmpliTube 3 plugins you might have to enjoy the new engine.
I didn't read it that way either - the pre-order prices look to be pretty clearly defined for the different packages on offer:

t-racks 5 - €99
t-racks 5 deluxe - €199
t-racks 5 max - €329
"T-Racks 5 MAX UPGRADE from any previously purchased product of a value of $/€99.99 or more." - €199

t-racks max is a previously purchased product in the same way that a single plugin over €99 is.

I do believe Peter explained it very clearly in this thread:
https://www.gearslutz.com/board/new-pro ... ac-pc.html

Post

Thanks Fleer. That thread was pretty painful reading and seems the way they've worded this has confused a lot of prople, but you're right: as an existing t-racks max owner, I can upgrade for €99 not €199, as it's just the shell and 4 new plugs that I need as my existing v4 max plugs will work in v5.

Post

And if you don't want those four, you'll be able to upgrade for free by using the (free) T-RackS 5 Custom Shop edition.

Post

true. €99 for the 4 new plugins seems like a decent deal though, and I have some IK credit I can use. I don't expect it'll ever be cheaper to buy these - would you agree?

Post

"ever" is a demanding word.

Here's a long shot: IK has the Total Max bundle on sale, which currently is missing Modo Bass, Syntronik, T-Racks 5 and a couple of T-Racks modules released after Total Max. I have a theory that they will later come with a Total Max 2 bundle including all the new stuff released. At this stage, it's speculation, but it makes sense.

Post

Sure does.

That thread is super confusing. ik clearly says if you have max you don't get a free upgrade. you can use them in ts 5 custom shop but they will be limited. "If you do nothing, you will have to update to T-RackS 5 CS (free version) and use your existing plugins in T-RackS 5 with limited features and none of the new modules."

If u upgrade for 99 euros you get the new modules but still have limited t-racks max 4 plugins. This is asked several times where he states that they will work but they won't be t-racks 5 plugins and limited (which is the same thing as not upgrading at all). Again to upgrade everything from max to t-racks 5 is still 199 euros for max users which is kind of a shitty deal when we've spent $300-$500 on max when anyone who spent $42 gets the same deal for 199 euros *sigh*

When he talked of limited functionality, it seemed he was talking about the free t-racks 5 framework vs the paid version, rather than saying the plugins themselves will be limited:
We do not have details of a free CS version at this time, so yes you'll be able to use your existing T-RackS processors in any free CS version that does get released but the new modules will not be there and there will likely be other limitations to functionality, etc.
He then went on to say this:
Nothing is replaced. This is a new major version. Your v4 plugins, standalone, and plugin suite will remain. T-RackS 5 plugins, standalone, and plugin suite will be new. Your v4 plugins will also be available as T-RackS 5 plugins with the new GUI (as single plugins as well as in the "rack"/standalone/shell).
and he kept saying the route for existing t-racks max owners is the $99 t-tracks upgrade:
If you have MAX, you would want to get the $/€99.99 pre-order T-RackS 5, not the MAX upgrade.
If you already have T-RackS MAX, you should be interested in the $/€99.99 pre-order. Your existing gear will work in T-RackS 5 so you don't need to re-buy it as T-RackS 5 MAX.

Again, I believe it will be comparable to the AmpliTube 4 launch, which also came with a free CS version allowing your AmpliTube 3 amps and fx to take advantage of the new AT4 engine, yet with limited features. No prob there. No prob here. That's how I see it.

Post

and what are the limited features? is it sound quality? there was a spot where he stated something a long the lines of while the old plugins haven't been completely remastered they will take advantage of the new sound engine. do the old max plugins take advantage of the new sound engine or is that one of the limited features?

Post

Would be counterproductive, as the free CS version also serves as a kind of demo to draw people in. Same with the free AmpliTube 4 CS.

Post

I guess we'll find out, but I ponied up for the €99 upgrade to t-racks 5, which I trust will bring my Max bundle up to date when launched.

It's not that hard to understand.

Assume you now have T-racks 4, with:
features A, B, C
gear W,X,Y

There will be TR5 CS FREE that have:
features A, B, C, D
gear W (possibly only T-racks classic EQ, same as the current T-racks CS)

and there will also be TR5 paid version that have:
features A, B, C, D, E
gear Z

If you download TR5 CS after it's released, you'll have:
features A, B, C, D
gear W, X, Y (your current gear, but in their T-racks 5 forms)

if you buy TR5 paid version, you'll have:
features A, B, C, D, E
gear W, X, Y, Z (your current gear, but in their TR5 forms, plus the new gears that come with TR5)

As of now, it was mentioned that features D includes: sonic benefit from the new framework, resizable GUI
but features E (features that exists in paid TR5 but not in TR5 CS) has not been disclosed yet

EDIT: peter mentioned again in the TR5 thread that features D are also unconfirmed. There's a chance those I mentioned above are actually part of features E.
