you hear a clean Vibrolux first, and then an overdrive is kicked on. Two different examples of diff settings.

Do you have the clean D.I.takes ?
I need at least those to, to get it right.
Would be great you could play it again if you dont.
A simultanious recording of dry D.I. and amp.
Tele ? I dont know anyone who plays that style.

I'll repeat-- a pickup cannot distort. It simply cannot, will not, and will never. It defies the laws of physics and sound to say that a pickup distorts.

However, a pickup can generate different outputs and also different resonant peaks, which will interact with an amplifier in different ways. An amp that's perfectly clean with one guitar, even one with a "high output" pickup, might not be clean with another, even with a "similar output" pickup due to the different resonant peaks.

But, the pickup itself isn't distorting.

It may seem pedantic to mention, since the end result for a user and his amp is 6 of one, half-dozen of the other (same end result, so who cares?). But it's not mere pedantry-- unless there's code or something going on with the A/D, D/A conversion process, there cannot be distortion based simply on the pickup itself.

no but my output has more than ample power to overdrive any amp and really cranks up a threesome of ax7's...I have friend who calls me the builder of 80watt guitars...what the pick-up takes in is one thing...but what goes out the pick-up leads is another...and still yet another before it finally reaches the output jack, along it's journey it's boosted 0-26 db...but on the other side she can crystal clean with little harmonic or high-end loss while dropping back on the volume knob...

I agree completely.

I only mentioned it in the context of an amp sim. If the sim's not responding to that extra input with a distortion algorithm, then there won't be any distortion at the plug-in level. Which would mean that the distortion on the "Twin" emulation is coming from elsewhere.

btw greg, if you ask me a pick-up doesn't need to have an overdrive to it to distort, some distort because they're pure crap and they pick the sound up crappy...

Well, unless they're short-circuiting, they still won't distort. But they may very well be picking up the sound of crappy!

I don't do that anymore.

I just wanted to bump the mp3 demo list. It's absolutely inevitable and extremely necessary to have it presented every few hours. While it was so rare during the now disappeared day I got a little overexcited and bumped it again so that it probably will be sufficient for the next few hours. I'll reconcider a bump of that list when we reach the next page or so. I decided to better make a stupidt joke than to write something overly serious AGAIN ...
