Didn't read it that way, at all. In fact, it was the SOS-review that got me interested.
This is their conclusion:
"I confess to being uneasy at the way in which ‘smart EQ’ is presented as waving a magical DSP wand that simply makes things sound better, but if you’re less of a control freak than me, you’ll probably find that it often does have that effect! For me, the most obvious customer for this plug-in is the harrassed and time-poor engineer working in audio post-production, for whom its combination of easy-to-use reverb reduction and magic-wand waving could be just the ticket. And though it probably can’t be considered a must-have for music production and mastering, there are plenty of potential applications here too, and it’s definitely worth downloading the time-limited demo and exploring what it can do for you."
So I got hooked, same way I got addicted to FabFilter and Zynaptiq :)

You convinced me to try the demo. I'm interested.

I'm finally at $50 this month woo! Got black box last month or so for $100 though. Sucks though I don't see anything worth getting or that I don't have in the sales this month. I hope the mystery plugins are good. Would be a shame if my first $50 goes to waste!

Heads up the mycartoct17 coupon for $50 off for purchases over $100 still works so if you have a voucher less than $50 you can grab it for $52.40 by adding a $29 plugin and using the coupon.
I was about to buy it but turns out it crashes my Cubase like so many other PA plugins :(

Tried that but it would not allow me to combine the vouchers.

Follow me on Youtube for videos on spatial and immersive audio production.

For the PA Sale Week 4 my guess for mystery plugin 3 is Unfiltered Audio G8, because that is the only one in their shop with a regular price of 69$.

Yeah you cant combine two coupons but for me I only have a $35 voucher so adding a $29 one and using the $50 discount is cheaper than using the $35 one.

Frei:raum is three plugins in one, actually four, as it also works as a generic EQ, but at the highest level. However, the three creative parts are the ones that are truly magical. The smart:EQ layer creates your ideal mix EQ for you, think iZotope but much better. the proximity:EQ layer solves your mic, room and reverb problems. The incredible entropy:EQ layer separates the pluck from the string sound, or the impact from the harmonic part of your sound.
Absolutely unbelievable.
The only problem was price. Started at $400 for professionals only. Last sale price was $300 and they also sell the three parts individually for $150, so $59 for all three is a no-brainer alright.
Thanks! How would you see the comparison of the „smart eq“ module to something like tdr‘s nova ge?

Well, is it normal for APD to not send confirmation emails quickly even though they stated that they had already sent an email? This is my first APD order, might be my last. Before you tell me to ask support, I tried that first but their website said that it couldn't be sent right now.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now as my order is recorded in my account, but, it's 2017, slow emails net you a grumpy, possible unnecessary, response on KVR.

Now, get off of my lawn and give me my EQ....damn it!

So, that was what I tried to do earlier and it said that I couldn't do that right now. Sorry, I don't remember the exact error message.

In any case, I have my EQ, you did process the order, the code was on your website. However, I still have not received any emails at all from you.

Thanks for the reminder on the mycartoct17 coupon code for PA. I received my first $50 coupon this month and was going to use that, but will use the mycartoct17 instead first. Thank you.

Also, I was forgetting about their additional in cart discount when you add more products. I added karacter, bx xl v2, bax eq, dyneq v2,cleansweep pro and nseq-2 for a total of $168.40. Or $28 per plugin. Pretty good actually! Again, this is why I love PA. They 'get it'! That's how you incentivize sales. I may actually spend that amount now when I was going to spend about $29 or perhaps nothing at all. See what I mean. They truly get it. Other companies... take note!

I'm actually going to spend a few hundred in cash now that I had set aside for other things. See how powerful smart discounting is? Get your carts and coupon programs more advanced.

See how you can even get a free $50 plugin with them via the $50 coupon they offer each month. That builds loyalty. Take note competitors! I do.

I actually stopped buying from Uaudio because they never do this stuff. And their plugs are tied to their hardware (which I own) but still prefer native for the freedom of it. Uaudio need to start offering $50 plugin purchase levels with coupons regularly like PA and then I MIGHT consider buying in again. But even then probably won't unless they go even lower because of their stuff being tied to my interface. Yes I have it, yes it has DSP benefits, but nowadays CPUs are fast and getting even faster. I'd rather have my freedom of platform so choose so when buying. Wise up companies. Please. Not only for our sake, but yours.

UA is really trying hard to hold on to the perception that their plugins are worth $299 + the cost of the cards... They do this but incentivize with coupons and bundle deals with their hardware so unless you impulse buy something from them as soon as it is announced you can often do better. They are smart about it and there is fierce product loyalty with them so they can sustain their price points for the time being.

In my view they make good stuff but not that good, espcially given the competition and the fact that if you have been at this game for 4 years or more your plugin folders are likely stuffed to the point that many of us have got multiple emulations of the same processor from multiple vendors. I need another compressor or EQ like I need another hole in the head.

Got Dent 2 for just $4 with my PA voucher :tu:

Nice Num! You got a warm fuzzy. I love getting those. PA is building goodwill again I see. Smart.

Yep. But I beg to differ that they're being smart about it. If they were being smart about it they'd have a lot more of my money by now and I'd own almost everything they offer. They don't. I don't. So no. Not so smart. Here's to hoping they get craftier with their discount scheme so we can both benefit each other.

But yeah, they are trying hard to hold onto that perception. Good luck with that. It's NOT hardware. It's close. It's pretty good. But it's cheap for them to sell copies once created. So I see most plugins as WAY WAY WAY WAY overpriced and have for years. (I've been into this scene since at least 2000 that I remember and perhaps even '97. Sadly I never registered here on KVR and was a lurker for like a decade or so.)

I don't buy stuff anymore because I 'need' it. I already have purchased over 1000 plugins and instruments. I do it more out of habit and curiosity at this point. And to collect and fulfill my Zeigarnik effect. Not doing it much anymore above $19-29 dollars though, unless it's a huge library or something I've always wanted.

And I used to be 'fiercly' loyal kind of with them too. Then realized it was more than 2/3rds placebo effect as are most of our audio toys -- as we know.

I totally agree on needing another EQ. I don't either. Why do I even bother...? Ah yes, habit, curiosity, collecting. No good reason. That's why. So they better lower prices or less of us will even bother.
