Wouldn't mind getting my dirty hands on it at all. Combine that with a tad bigger GUI and we're all set

Majken, that's a lovely skin it seems!

i think that's only possible when fuzzpilz changes the codeSascha Franck wrote:Combine that with a tad bigger GUI and we're all set

Majken wrote:I'm working on a complete'ish skin for this lil fella. It'll take some time to get it finished I guess but I've got say half or so of it done so far. Trying to make it easier to read and divide it up better in areas. Dunno if I've actually improved anything from the original, but hey! It's different
And Fuzzpilz, nice to see you on the VST side of things
EDIT: Oh and Fuzzpilz, a small GUI bug. The 2nd mod envelope has the HDBDSR knobs shifted 1 pixel to the right. Which isn't a big thing, heh but the A knob is further apart from the rest.
/Majken

I'm also working on a different skin! Obviously there are no dials on mine yet but they actually look similar to the ones in Majkens design.

Btw, I have to join the choire again: This is not mediocre at all and the randomizer is absolutely friggin amazing! Puts out like 3/4 of really useful patches - and that's coming from someone not being into soundscaper-ish stuff at all.

yes I wanna praise it too
a very good sounding synth
with a little better gui a real chartbreaker.
I could also need a little bigger gui.
but beside that, everything is superb.
thanks more than thousend times for sharing.

If your initial problem was the fear of coding all the different elements of the GUI by hand into a .TXT to match vector filling and all that, perhaps you could program something that would convert a premade .PNG into the .TXT file elements you need instead? Then notate in the .TXT file via // or whatever which elements can be twiddled with?Fuzzpilz wrote:I should probably do what I was going to do earlier, i.e. have the skin work from text files instead of hardcoded arrays etc. That should eliminate this sort of problem.
Regardless, you certainly stole the show with Oatmeal. I think you should rename it Synthzilla or something from the reaction you've gotten. I am tempted myself to spend a few hours and create a kickass GUI for it... maybe after I finish FX Lord I'll do so, if the buzz is still kicking by then.

Wow! I can see what people are raving about. Not only are there good presets, but Oatmeal has the best random patch generator I've ever heard.

Well, I just threw down a Jackson via PayPal and now here's an additional two-cents...
1) Please don't change the GUI too drastically! Perhaps just a slight increase in size and contrast? The color scheme and lo-tech feel are the very essence of the synth's namesake... (and Wilford Brimley will kick yer ass if you in any way disrespect his beloved foodstuffs!
)

2) I've noticed that using FL Studio's built-in preset browser (the one on the Fruity Wrapper) sometimes results in crashes... the obvious workaround is to simply use Oatmeal's own preset browser... but it would be nice to able select a single preset from the entire list of presets rather than just "scrolling" through them until you get to the one you want... (perhaps I can cheat this crash-free if I save my patches in the .fxb format instead of native .omb format... I'll check and get back to y'all on this...)

I really have no problem with the original gui at all. It's minimalist, the knobs are a little small, but its totally functional. The lateral movement when tweaking makes up for the size bigtime.I LOVE the generous hint bar at the bottom.
The only thing I don't fully understand yet are the 7 part envelopes. Some stuff from BONES Killer synths had 5, I think, but I don't know how the H D B triad does.
EDIT: How do the two decays work with one another?

Well, they sort of do... but eventually you'll crash (at least I do when trying to use the Fruity Wrapper preset browser)Barf wrote:Presets still dont show up here in FL studio![]()

Just stick with Oatmeal's native patch selector until further notice...
