Hrm. why would it work for you and not for me? It is ACID related when the program vanishes when I tried to load CM101. How you got yours working I've no idea, I guess Sony likes you better?

I don't know if they recompiled/updated it at any point, but mines is dated 19/06/2001 and is (under right click/properties) file version 1.0.

Zauni wrote:Acid 6 has a confirmed bug that affects VST song position pointers. All plugins that use it are affected, including Jamstix which cannot synch with Acid without this info. According to Sony, this will be fixed in the next update.

AudioM8 should work fine. Reubs, what exactly is happening (or not happening) for you with it?
Hi Zauni,

Jamstix 1.5, adding the M8 plugin to the master FX i get this error -

then i get another popup with an error message about the rewire.dll :-o
after which the app hangs and locks up.

M8audio plugin added to master FX using a vst wrapper with Acid 4 no longer works, older versions of the plugin did work i this way.

We've never had such a problem with audioM8 in any host so, given the very recent release of Acid 6, I'd be tempted to put my finger in that direction. If you want, send me an e-mail to support[at]rayzoon.com and I'll send you a newer internal version of audioM8 for testing.

chopper does what you describe. i use it for making crazy little fills.

beatmapper is for taking a full length song and making it line up with the grid in acid. (kind of like warping in ableton, if you know that.)

I finally downloaded the demo and gave it a good thrashing. Amazingly it did everything without error. I left a song running while I reversed items, changed loop points, added new one shots, moved data around, zoomed in & out, repitched audio etc etc. I couldn't make it unhappy.

And looking at the Acid forum there doesn't seem to be any really significant widespread bugs.

Am I dreaming or is this a pretty solid release ?

I might even buy the upgrade right now....

I have personally noted a few bugs (but i'm back on a 1.7ghz dell desktop now...so technologically i'm about 5/6 years behind :P ) but nothing that would cause or risk a crash (my tabs keep reorganising themselves and i get stutters if i'm resizing the piano roll during playback.) Overall though, and the tendancy for revisions to solve a shitload of bugs i didn't even know existed :P I'm quite happy with it...the additions greatly outweigh the issues, lets put it that way. You say you've had no issues, and other have had issues that i haven't (see the post about cm-101 crashing acid for someone yet it loaded and operated without glitch for me.)

Something else i have found out. To save yourself the hassle of having to mess about with the media manager on a reinstall, go to where you intially unpacked the files (in my case - E:\DAW\Sony Setup\Acid 6.0) delete the mediamgr folder then zip up the Acid 6.0 folder as your backup (it'll only be 51mb as opposed to the 91mb or so it was with the mediamanger, so a good spacesaver too.) Next time you install it'll get to the point where it says click next to install media manager (or whatever) and when you do the window just closes and that's it. You'll still get the intial "couldn't find media manager" error when you first start acid, but reading this thread you'll know how to stop that hasppening again anyway.

It feels like a dream but it's true! ACID 6 is working really well on my rather old system. I've already upgraded but the beauty of the demo is that it's unrestricted for 30 days, allowing time to reflect. The upgrade price is a steal compared to some of the other big hosts.

It's amazing really. I'm doing things with AP6 which I wouldn't even try with Sonar. For some reason Sonar makes me a little nervous to "push" it. There's no good reason for me to feel like that since Sonar PE5 has also been solid for me and is an excellent app, but so much in life is about perceptions.

I just feel more confident to chop, mangle, rearrange and fiddle using Acid.

Perhaps Sonar is like a luxury vehicle: I don't want to drive it on rough roads or risk silly manoeuvres. Acid is more like a trail bike: it's a far more basic ride, but much more interesting ! ;)

Any one else got these VSTs working in Pro 6
Nomad Blue Tubes
Bias Sound Soap
Superwave Performer

They all work perfect in Pro 5 but my Pro 6 sees them but will not run them. Just keeps telling me they are not installed correct. I know they are installed correct cause as i said they work fine with Pro 5. Any ideas or should i put this down to one of those bugs that should get fixed in the next patch ?
Oh and apart from this glitch i love Pro 6.

Please somebody answer this:,,, in acid you can slice a loop up but after that does it automaticly map the slices to midi notes so that you can trigger/record pattern play into the sequencer????

No, it does not do that.

thanks very much, thats one thing that pisses me off about ableton live and acid. this is the most crucial workflow feature of any sampler.,

You realize that neither tool you listed is a sampler.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer
