My submission is a joke, i meant it as a joke and yes, i do realize it is not prog

I'm just going to be flat out blunt here, you have got to be a real moron to assume a musician participating in these Music Cafe contests does not understand the difference between Disco and Prog Rock.

.....or shall i say get a sense of humour??
My reviewer-side does not have a sense of humour... :D

To be nit-picky though: I don't think I said that you didn't know what prog was, just that the track wasn't prog. And to be honest, I've got the feeling that I may not recognize some variations of the genre myself so sometimes I will state that so the original artist can correct me on an erroneous assumption on my part. So actually it's more about me being unsure about the genre. :)
No matter, you are all still morons and big fat ugly fizzler boks 8)

Then can I have your power supply for it? Mine went tits-up. :hihi: Odd that I was *just* out in the garage rummaging through storage and saw the box, then came back in 5 minutes later to see this post...

Actually, I'm sorta looking at the Alesis Control Pad as a replacement. Power through USB, no MIDI cable! Then again, the Octapad II had those 6 extra trigger inputs on the back...

Certainly an argument could be made that they have post-prog elements? "Vengeance (The Pact)" always gave me that feel. They typically had concept album notions and plenty of sci-fi/fantasy lyrics and arrangements with separate movements. If anything, they primarily lack an investment in odd time signatures.

I mean come on: if you have Michael Moorcock involved with your band and writing the occasional lyric, that's gotta count for something! :hihi:

Hi Alex

Thank you very much! I tried to get all the elements of a 70's piece. You got good 'ol rhodes( Mr Ray), mellatron, minimoog and guitar antics. While there is a touch of a jazz feel, it kicks into some prog stuff in the middle. I think Prog was a mixture of everything( or else it would not be Prog)

I guess I could have placed the instruments more in a stereo field, but it seems to be OK. I was considering adding a real bass, but thought it might get too busy then.( its already pretty busy!)

Thanks for your comments, and glad to be finally submitting something. Its my 50th this 25th, so need to celebrate and do something a bit new :-)

Tim
Everyone in this life who makes it to the 'half-centry' mark deserves a big congrats mate -- so -- Happy Birthday & Big Congratulations! :tu:

But I'm sorry Tim -- I'm afraid you'll have to bow out of the contest and disqualify yourself.

We simply can't have you running around in here going "That's my patch! That's my patch!" :|

:hihi:

Would have enjoyed hearing that busy bass anyway mate ;)

Cheers,
Alex

tconrardy - Quintenssant -> Great synth sounds. I love the way you've got some instruments peeking into the foreground for just a moment before fading back. Well mixed, well played, very enjoyable.

sttjelle - Fuz Travel -> I really liked the big piano surge at 1:10 and the bass at 1:25. Nice feel throughout, pretty mellow, well-played.

Gucky - Come to my dark side -> The brass-ish lead is a bit overpowering at times. I like the melody line and the fast-arping lines here and there (like at 0:48, for instance).

I know what you mean. I started thinking Electro Polka, then when somebody picked the 70's I pieced together a collage of parts of 12 cover songs from the decade - happily not one was disco, but some syrupy pop stuff, but hey that's what was on the radio. I figured it would bring back memories.
Anyway, when I saw that it was PR - I dragged out my Yes and ELP vinyl and tried to come up with something, but by then I was about burned out and everything I did turned out to be plagerized from Close to the Edge.
Anyway, I finally recovered and should have something posted over the weekend.
I never did quite get over the polka thing...

mmmhhh... I must beware... This is synonymous with prog-rock (in my mind) :?
