Off to mess with this new beast... Yay!!
Yep I noticed but forgot to say earlier  Some beta tester huh?

I think its because Andy added the info button so all the controls have shifted across a bit.

sorry, I forgot to lock the display, I'll have beta 14 ready shortly and try to remember this time :)

Chester - I'm planning on adding a second midi mode, hopefully today which will use another midi channel which will have combinations attached to each midi note, so 1 key triggers 1+2, next 1+2+3 etc, I'll try and get every possible combination if there's enough keys, it will probably all fall into place once I start working on it :)

I'll give some thought to the current setup you are right, they should not cancel, maybe it would make more sense if they stopped when pressed if the A key was down?

hi andy
sorry I'm actually playing a lot with my groups and I very few time for testing ...i'm really sorry. it seems to work fine on my system , and for every host I have. this is really an amazing plug ! it's so light for the cpu too.

the second midi mode seems to be interesting, but maybe It will add more complexity to the instrument.
just another little thing about the gui. I remember that some of synthedit instrument have a little popup when your mouse is on a control, and i find it will be a good idea for black magic . ugo's instruments ( rez etc...) have this feature.

agian really sorry but I'm always on the road actually.

take care

Heh heh, I think we're all pretty into this monster... Button is still there and functional, and with all the rapid updates to the unit I can see where it would be easy to forget something so minor! Plus you report important stuff. :D

This thing is awesome. Just Plain AWESOME. (jdt must settle down, watch his blood pressure LOL).

I'm very late to the game here after unexpected travels and such. It turns out I recreated a lot of the errors in this thread, and I couldn't get it working until

1) I switched to an SSE2-capable machine
2) I installed the kits
3) I renamed the Kits directory to Black Magic Kits

Then it stopped crashing in Live, Bidule, Savihost, ...

I also noticed that the Global Random button is barely on the GUI, just peeking over the upper right border. I see you found that already too.

Now that I've rehashed so many things that everyone involved in the testing already knows, it's time for me to find some new problems. This looks like its going to be a fun one.

Beta 14 Released:

* Midi Sequence Triggers - If All is down, other triggers switch off sections - Is this better?
* A now lights up when the B2 Key is pressed via midi.
* Now automatically reloads samples if samplerate changes.
* Screen is correct size again (will probably happen again though!)

Chester let me know if this is any better?

Damien, no worries you've been helpful so far :) I wish I was always on the road! sigh....

Right I'm having a few hours off now you'll all be pleased to hear, Later on I'll check out the automation glitching and work on the Second Midi Mode. I'm also planning a General Midi Mode for the Regular drum hits, so it's easy to use with GM mapped controllers. I'll shove that on channel 10.

This is what I like to hear, makes it all worthwhile!

beta 14----- getting stuck notes and latency.....in flstudio 8 and the hanging stuttering happens when i press the master stop button of the daw..

Post

Hiyah GJK,

Have you noticed though that if you trigger Black Magic with a MIDI file loaded in the step sequencer, it starts and stops just fine? Only seems to stutter for me when Black Magic is in "all play" mode. Probly redundant, but I wasn't sure if that had been mentioned yet.

Other than that, triggering BM channels from FL 8 doesn't seem top affect the transport at all... here anyway.

Well the latest change may be flawed, stick with 13 for now. I think I might actually put it back to how it was and just build an alternate system for other midi channels. I'll see what happens :)

*EDIT* I spent the last 5 hours trying to compose this damn post, but I will leave it and try the newest beta tonight..

I agree. Since pressing the B key (or A button) is turning all patterns "on", it makes sense that the next key press (and release, since you don't want to have to hold it down to keep it off) on an individual pattern's key would turn that pattern "off". However, it is actually doing this already, you press the key and release it and the pattern turns off..the Note On is sort of hidden due to the fact that it is already on.
...the desired behaviour would be that if you now press it a second time it should turn back on and stay on until you hit the key again. Sort of an "ignore every other Note-Off message" idea.
If you had a setting that would switch key behaviour between "button mode" and "normal mode" that might do the trick.

Speaking of triggering things... Is it possible to make one of the keys trigger the record option? If it is possible, it means it would make it easy to sync host to BM when recording through BM, which I like very much because of the organization of the folders.

...I'm working now, but will play more with BM when I'm done.

Thanks! :)

That's a great idea! I'll implement that later on :)

In FL 8 that should be a snap, as long as the record button is a linkable parameter. I'll try it, see what happens.

OMG!! That was the first time I browsed the parameters of this puppy, the list goes on forever! Is Astralp uploading these new Betas from a nice, comfy padded room somewhere? :P

Sadly tho, I didn't see the record button in the list...however it looks like every other function could be linked.

Black Magic is quite a piece of work, I'll say.
