Live is good and solid... but there are things I would like which seem like no brainers... an LFO device which can drive plug-in parameters for example... To me that just seems like a head scratcher why that is not there. I would use that all the time. That seems like host 101 functionality. I sure would like some more midi utilities. A little more routing flexibility with racks. Solid host functionality. Instead I get offered the latest partner instruments which I have no interest in. And they shuffled some basic stuff off to M4L which uses lots of resources and is slow and less reliable.

I already feel a bit of a red flag with Bitwig (from my own interests point of view) in that it seems to want to do everything. I have no interest in the built-in synths but that is a big focus on their page. Also, I'm sure my geeky side will enjoy the modular environment, but I think I would rather just have a solid set of efficient utilities, flexible routing etc.

Regardless, I look forward to trying it out when available.

Yeah, I understand that.

I used every legal means in the book to slowly chip away at my "Adjusted Gross Income" figure, so I always got something back.

But I had a lot of valid deductions like college tuition, mortgage interest deductions, whatever they hadn't killed in Congress yet.

I made a good enough salary to keep my withholdings up high enough to make sure I never owed them anything at years end... the main goal.

I'm serious though about what I said, I'd rather spend my cash on goodies that work within reap than learn YET ANOTHER host unless my criteria is met

I guess only Beta will show. Just two directions really. Massive Live users migration or disapearing.

...or it actually is Live 9 and we all have been massively trolled by Ableton.

About time the original DAWs(ala Cubase and Logic etc had another shake up)Ableton did it first but IMHO there is room for Bitwig. Its all good.They have certainly taken a few pages from the LIVE book it seems and i think that this collaborative/net thing will be all over everything this year, but it remains to be seen if people will actually take that up.
Time will tell.

Seems more than a few people think this is actually a hoax, similar to the Atari thing discussed here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atari

In other words, Bitwig was set up by Ableton as a faux competitor...

Can't imagine that's true personally, but I do think Bitwig looks kinda like...

There is an Ableton skin I liked, cannot remember the name now that looked pretty much exactly like BWS. BW clearly want the UI similarity it appears.

Actually this is the skin I used with Live "Battle Sauce" Very similar to BWS.

As for the hoax...it would be one of the most elaborate of it's type...ever. Similar to making the Earth vanish.

It surely is not a hoax. That would be bizarre at this point.

I certainly hope it is not a hoax. While I am not sure where it will fit into my set up just yet it does look like a rather nice bit of well cooked kit made by Bit.

Look..BW...just give us a $99 intro price already

We can't tell if it's good or not yet. Almost everything is just speculation at the moment. BUT we DO know that it is a good thing that Ableton get's a competitor! That will force them to do something. That's always a good thing

And maybe Bitwig Studio is even a better solution for some!
I have the feeling that this will be a really good host though.
Everything just seems to be well thought out
