Regarding the Irreversible clip to all that were not aware of the scene, I honestly did not intend it in a manner to send anybody under/west. Yes indeed it is not at all nice/pleasent but really it was all about that superb sound. If I knew how to post just the sound then I would have done. I watched it as soon as it came out on DVD and that sound, The way it rings so clear always has stuck with me.
I would never post a rape scene! My taste in stuff, Film wise anyway is questionable for sure but I am not that bad am I? You have my apologies if it seemed that way.
Some of the sword sounds from Kill Bill 1 & 2 are definately in my list of great sounds, They would be great to sample also but I don't need post any clips in particular as I'll just mention/refference films with not that nice imagery so anyone really curious can check them out without having the button right infront of them
I think it is definately metallic orientated sounds in picture which seem to always catch my ear, Be it a huge deep clang or bell strike to an ultra thin blade clashing into or slicing through another for example always get me.
Best to all as always and again did not mean to offend anybody

I think any film about animals is more horrible than a rape scene. What I like most, is the sound of (celebrating) crowds - at the soccer stadium, party, club, train station...
I love all stuff from KLF because they were the first to mix samples from soccer stadiums ("Hooray") into the song and it suited perfectly.
Stadium House, it was called...

twitter, facebook, memes (have you seen some of those>?) most of the filth is coming from the young. I have a jr high down the corner and the kids are fouler than foul. In fact, kids were fouler than foul when I went to school 100 years ago.Tricky-Loops wrote: That's real horror, and so many people like it...and there is no age restriction at Youtube...

"OMG, ladies and gentlemen start your engines" (vrrroooooommmm vrooooooommmmm) "better get yo' asses up and get ready because the cattle herding is about to begin" (vrrrrrrooooommmmmm VRRROOOOOOOOM) "and since it's so stressful dealing with cattle like you....." (VROOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM) "we're talking as fast and nervously as we can!!!!!!!!!"

Clever use of sound in this film; there's an extremely low frequency tone under the first half hour or so, designed to provoke a feeling of unease (as if that was necessaryDean Aka Nekro wrote:Irreversible

No offense taken. It was a legit post. OMG, for years now, I thought that was Valerie what's her name, Depp's wife. That's very interesting about the low frequency tone. Something innocuous that you don't notice. The camera work was enough to put me at unease. I've recommended that film to people and have been met disgust and how dare you's... , but I love it.
I guess also from films, there were these little synth effects everywhere in the last Transformers movie that I would LOVE to know how were made and what was used.

I guess my favorite synth sound would have to be the (now) utter cliche' signature sound of the Oxygene album, so yes, I kinda have to point to the ultra-classic(-gone-mundane?) "Eminent 310 Unique Ensemble filtered through the Small-stone phaser pedal" combo (didn't even dare checking how many times it's been mentioned over a thread like this one, hahaha).
Nevermind that, I can but acknowledge the impact and lasting consequence these few scattered notes opening the album have had on me and my life, from the first moment I heard them onwards. Like so many people wandering KVR I guess, THIS more than anything else in music was the defining moment for me (and that it includes even the Blade Runner soundtrack is saying something I suppose).
Got me hooked with synthesizers and electronic-based music to this day.
Now my fav natural instrument would have to be the pipe flute (once again nothing original here), like you can hear in any philarmonic orchestra. Although my preferred use is in folk or medieval music context (or 70's prog-rock with folk influences like Focus, Gentle Giant or even Camel...)
My favorite natural sound (and all previous categories above included too) would have to be a draw between on one hand most common sounds from Nature (bird/whale/wolves/etc. singing, ocean shore waves, pouring rain, thunder, wind - basically you name it), and on the other hand the vocals of Kari RUESLATTEN (formerly of The 3rd and the Mortal), most heavenly voice ever to grace the face of this earth.

The greatest sonic experience I ever had was hearing The Buffalo Philharmonic perform the Carmina Burana in Kleinhans Music Hall.
The building was designed by Eliel and Eero Saarinen in the late 1930s, and is considered one of the finest concert halls in the US.
The sound washed over me from every direction, and I honestly felt my skin tingle. It was exhilarating.
Sublime music and a glorious sound.
