The reason I love the Nord Lead is its tight, solid, un-"broken" sound, fast envelopes, can handle serious modulation, etc. I think it's still the best virtual analog synth in that regard. Raw sound wise, as cold as the south pole is right now. I sold mine and got a Little Phatty Stage II and CP-251. Great sound, tighter oscillator/LFO and envelope response, and more complex sounds are possible thanks to the CP-251. Monophonic, yeah, but I couldn't care less, especially since recording notes separately allows much more complex polyphonic sounds. For real time polyphonic playing, the FireBird software synth does a great job for me.theriver wrote:By comparison I have a nord lead1 rack, and I can get all sorts of cool and inspiring bits out of that, even though its a very basic virtual analogue.
Christmas is coming up.. and I'm seriously tempted to sell the evolver and put the money toward getting something else for myself.
What do you guys think? Would I get on better with a different DSI-synth, the sub-oscs sound much more appealing for basses for instance.
Tetra... Prophet 08 rack or something else?

I uploaded a few more vids of the Neptune 2 to YouTube the other day;ghettosynth wrote:The Neptune 2 is a fat sounding synth BTW. You might not want to let that get too close to the Tetra, the Tetra may end up getting bruised...or worse.
I've also just recently ordered one of the new Oberheim SEM's (the MIDI > CV version). Should be shipping mid to late Jan, which is handy as I've not paid for the TETR4 yet!!

Matrix? I'm not sure. I only uploaded them myself on Monday this week! Got a link?ghettosynth wrote:If those are the ones that matrix posted, I've seen them already. I thought about this thread but didn't bother to comment.
I don't think I'm ready for a modular just yetThe SEM is a nice little synth. I'm not sure that I'd buy it over a small doepfer system but it is more compact and has a nice layout, and if I'm not mistaken, a bit cheaper than a comparable doepfer system. I'm rapidly converging on almost no analogs except my DIY modular.
