I'd wager he's tired of the personal attacks some people around here throw at him. Several threads about Diva vs. anything seem to devolved into a personal vendetta against anything Urs says or does. I found this post particularly tasteless and personally cruel:Robin from www.rs-met.com wrote:hey Urs,

It's sad that's the thanks he gets for essentially giving us one of the closest software emulations of the Moog I've used to date.

i just read the beginning of that thread, i haven't been around when it spawned since i was offline for the last bunch of daysbmrzycki wrote:.. I found this post particularly tasteless and personally cruel:

anyway.. what was stated in that thread about how to find out if a given filter is or is not zero-delay-feedback is bullsh*t
i'm not very clever, but even i can tell you this is not a way to tell.. an old style filter can be tuned with brute force methods to have good reso-frequency tuning and consistent resonant level, i know, even I have done it.. so this is not a way.. but i guess i'm too late, the thread is 25 pages and it has way more things going on which i don't understand, specifically who is attacking whom, and why
but whatever the reason is, it's really sad
if a big dev like Urs is getting attacked, then what's left for near-noones like myself
i don't wanna be part of any attacks, so i'll just remain silent
hope the peace gets back

Not much really. Just seeing after two years of good resolutions, that the goal can not be met.
The past few months were strenuous.
Maybe switch to tit for tat strategy?

so some people accuse Urs that everything he writes about the zero-delay feedback filters are advertisements in disguise? pfff. Urs, you have explained the technique in various posts, even posted some pseudocode and so on. this is very helpful for anyone who wants to implement this. Urs is helpful to competitors - that's the truth. Urs, you are a very nice and fair person. and you make good software.bmrzycki wrote:I'd wager he's tired of the personal attacks some people around here throw at him. Urs, I've really admired your ability to stay civil in the midst of all of this. Please don't stoop to their level. Your products and your good-hearted nature do you more good then even you possibly realize.Urs wrote:The past few months were strenuous. Maybe switch to tit for tat strategy?
I'm sure a lot more people read those threads than post and form their own opinions about the situation. Keep positive, keep focused and I'm sure good things will keep coming your way.
It's all to easy to get caught up in the moment and forget the person on the other side of the internet has feelings.
Here's a thumb's up and a hug for good measure:

I am so unbelievably *pissed* at how this thing has developed in the past few months. I know I've taken my part in it, but there were too many lines crossed too many times for me to keep silent. I know turning the other cheek would probably help things simmer down, but, as the great Springsteen said, "It's hard to be a saint on KVR".
FWIW, Urs: you have conducted yourself with remarkable restraint. You've been fair to all involved, have tried to keep it topical, and when the shit hit the fan tried to take it in good humour. This will likely not help much, but I really wish you won't take that shit to heart. You've got a lot of support here, which you've bloody well earned, not like some people I won't deign to mention. It's always the same few, and when the dust has settled, the quality of your work will always speak for itself.

Thanks guys.
The thing is, I can totally understand the other side (uhm, both other sides, if you so will). What's new to me is the persistence in all this. There's no solution to the dilemma and thus there's no chance to keep up what we had hoped for.
I've thought about this thread and its motves a lot lately.
No need to worry though. We'll keep it up.

Urs, I'm very surprised you felt so deeply those attacks. Your success rouses envy in minds, stupid spite will chase you forever, it's a part of your success. So please, don't fall ill. The best tit for tat you could do is to develop another one or two excellent plugins and make your really fair business grow much higher. Keep up!

No worries again... I got a full body checkup after what seemed to be a bit of a breakdown recently and despite a stomach flu I'm in good shape.sches wrote:Urs, I'm very surprised you felt so deeply those attacks. What bothers me is the energy and time wasted, and even with best diplomatic skills we get 2-5 facebook unlikes on each "incident".
Tit for tat in terms of good software is a spiffy idea though. We can do plenty of that

Unfortunately it seems that in most cases individual users seem to stirr things up quite a bit which make the developers chime into the discussions to clarify things or set things straight. I guess that is the most exhausting bit, and one thing that is beyond reach/influence of the developers themselves.
It's seems (to me) that the overall forum mentallity has changed too recently, and not for the better.
So I wouldn't take most of it it all too personal from a developers view. You just can't change some people. But you can change the view of most people, with great products and positive/reserved communications I think.

I'm sorry I can't read this whole thread, but I feel strongly as a user of many products represented here at kvr that U-He is a great company, in ways almost too numerous to say. The way Urs participates in communications is stellar, and I would like to add my voice to the overall opinion here that it is a substantial majority of people who are extremely pleased with U-He in most if not all respects.
I have often thought that perhaps Urs has set the bar impossibly high for himself (though not his company). By that I mean he may be working too hard to communicate. I definitely don't intend that as a criticism, rather as the highest of compliments. Urs is in a class literally by himself as far as I'm concerned. But how many of us could or would put such effort into communications with their users (and everybody else, including self-styled enemies, it would seem).
Urs, for every negative commenter, rest assured there are 100 or 1000 people who understand that you are an honorable person, who makes stellar products, with support that totally stands out.
I don't think I'm alone in feeling honored to know you a bit personally here at kvr. I wonder how many regulars visit largely because of U-He.
