it might be per part [for alchemy], I am not sure. -> correction, i was wrong - up to 600 each, for its [alchemy] first four sources.

and both (i think harmor does too?) support modifying the pitch of the partial over time independently, for 'inharmonics'.

Short question:
Is there a way to map the velocity to an attack-time?
So for example, that notes played with low velocity have a slow attack and notes with high velocity have a harder attack.

By the way .. I'm very pleased with the "80s capabilities" of Harmor:

The first two knobs under the "vel" label (under the "Auto" knob, right hand side of the Timbre section) control how velocity modifies attack. If the first is enabled, the velocity determines how much of the attack phase is skipped. If the second is enabled, the velocity determines the speed of the attack phase.

Search for "Velocity mapping switches" in the manual.
Velocity mapping switches:
  • Velocity to volume envelope attack time - Maps the velocity to the attack time of the volume envelope.
  • Velocity to volume envelope attack scale - Maps the velocity to the attack time scaling of the volume envelope.
  • Release velocity to envelope release scale - Maps the release velocity to the release time scaling.

Similar question for after-touch (mono/poly) as a source. (Not specific to attack-time as a target, of course.)

@paterpeter
Ah, thank you very much. Totally overlooked that.

The Alchemy teasers was not in depth videos...
...as i remember it the first teaser was someone fooling around in a desert
The first demo was iirc was the demo that is currently the first track on the Alchemy demo player called 'Resynthesis'. I've not heard a demo for Harmor that shows anything quite the same in terms of resynthesis?

Don't get me wrong I think Harmor is cool, am quite likely to buy it, and I love the control over pure additive synthesis it offers, as does Razor for example, which you can't do in Alchemy v1, but I've not heard anything that supports your resynthesis arguments. And resynthesis is one thing, its what you do with it afterwards that makes the difference, otherwise you might as well just use a sample of your original sound, if your only goal is to play back the original sound perfectly.

Grabbed Harmor a second ago. Doesn't mean the other plugins mentioned are not
good but i just found it so easy to drop a sound in and get going. I admire your
work, GOL.

Ain't i sounding like an FL Fanboy now :hihi:

I don't like the fallout style ornamental iconography. Cute, but purposeless. The half full battery and volume meters that never change are especially silly. The stripes in background of the filter section are goofy too, but thankfully not super noticeable.

I hate the character on the about screen. Why take a perfectly good synth and make it smell like a men's locker room? Now, that would be better in fallout style or a less "come hither" pose, but still. The Pro-One has Chenrezig & Om mani padme hum! And mushrooms...

I don't get why stuff like this isn't optional.

I know you're trying to get FL proper working under OS X, so maybe this is of some use? Snow Leopard, 2010 mbp.

I got Harmor to load up on OSX under VFX, a WINE thingy. GUI was slow, but I got Numerology to trigger sound. Cool! Unfortunately, VFX crashed when I adjusted the Freq divider. Well, VFX became non-responsive and didn't send MIDI to Harmor, but I could still adjust settings in Harmor.

Looking at the activity monitor, VFX was using one core and overloading it, that is going over 100% and then dropping back down to reasonable levels, but I still couldn't use VFX. If I didn't adjust anything Harmor played back mostly without problem, just an occasional pause. It appears adjusting the filter caused a slight problem, but then it seemed to right itself. Adjusting the Freq divider and Volume Envelope seemed to break it right away, with the CPU overload, etc.

It appears that quitting out of X11 (for WINE) after I have to force quit VFX is necessary for Harmor to load up smoothly rather than just reloading VFX.

I spent less than 10 minutes with it so, I dunno.

This is one of the synths I never understood. Harmor also has this metallic sound that reminds me of Ogun. I am sure it's great. I just have to dig deeper into its strcuture.

it's as purposeless as music & you're still doing it
The half full battery
I assume you're talking about the icon for the volume section. How do you iconize volume? A rising bar is like universal.
and volume meters that never change
where are those?

Anyway, I don't think I should plead guilty of having the only fancy GUI among VSTi's, quite the opposite.

you still have the option not to look at the about screen

I can't wait to take my 45 gig cowbell library, and resynthesize it.

Unbelievable what people will complain about. That sh!t is so trivial, it wouldn't even occur to me to have any strong feelings one way or the other. It's a $99 piece of software, for Christ's sake. I just bought a new car and paid $20,000 and didn't scrutinize it like that. I just can't fathom it.

This synth sounds good, does some impressive stuff, and has enough tricks that you could have almost endless fun with it. And it's only $99. The good stuff outways the bad to such a ridiculous extent that it's bewildering that anyone could be so petty to take issue with a handful of pixels. Your life must be an absolute misery to be bothered enough by something so insignificant that you feel compelled to comment.
