Both this and Presswerk crash as soon as I load them in EnergyXT 2.7
on Win8.1 64bit.
Anyone else get the same?
Regards.

I haven't spent a great deal of time on the arpseq section yet but my feeling was that the gate within it seemed to have a bit less influence than how i recall the seq-gate in Sylenth (which i haven't used in months). While they are both dependent on the envelope, in Hive i feel like the decay and sustain have to be both extremely low in order for the seq-gate to be particularly functional at low levels.
Perhaps this is where some of the "doesn't sound like sylenth" comments are coming from relating to acid sequences.
Also, i think the + on the LFO meaning unipolar isn't obvious, it kinda looks more like an on/off switch.
On the other hand, maybe the problem was just me getting a little too drunk instead.
Edit: Now I look at the arpseq in a more sober mindset, i think it may well have been more the result of my drunkenness and blurry-looking envelopes than anything else.

IMO there is a bit Zebra DNA in it
It's not a very raw sound compared to eg. Spire but it's not as polished like Dune. Something between this synth IMO. It seems that Unison is the main feature of this synth to create this hypersaw sound. There is also Afaik Unison spread, Unison Detune etc. and it's very easy and quick to create such a "typical" sound. I have no idea about this 3 synth models (have not tested it).
The GUI is excellent, I like this idea to connect modulation sources to targets with drag & drop. The other way, to use the context menu of the modulation target is not implemented yet ("modulated by") or is it only not working as expected?
I'm not sure after a (admittedly very short) test that Hive fills a gap between existing synth so it's a "must have".

Hive, bought and paid for.
Bye-bye Sylenth. It was fun at first but your refusal to develop and grow shows me that the good times are gone now. I've found a better-looking younger model and we are happy together, you knew this would happen one day.

Tried to recreate Sylenth's first:

(based on the Acid patch).
Needs more work I guess.

Indeed, the layout may be similar at first sight - modules arranged left and rigth, something with routing in the middle, tabs at the bottom. Also, the small knobs are reminiscent to Zebra's.4damind wrote:IMO there is a bit Zebra DNA in it![]()
On the audible side they don't really have much in common. Hive's filters are more like Bazilles, and the oscillators are like, hmm, ACE LFO2 with tap map option plus unison. The envelopes are coded from ground up. In "Dirty" mode you get classical exponential ones, in "Clean" you get the same with linear attack and in "Normal" you get a trick I saw elsewhere to avoid clicks and get more punch. Even the ModMatrix is new, and unlike Zebra's it can exceed parameter ranges when possible. So you can often "stack up" in Hive, which isn't possible in Zeebs.
Also, Hive breaks with a lot of things I do by habit, such as panning laws, detune laws, when to use knobs rather than drop downs.

Please check out our FAQ section on the website.iamgroot wrote:when I try to use hive in fl studio gives me installation issues it says there is no gui resources?? can someone help me? please
You might need to install it again, and you might need to point the data path into your Documents location.

There were experiments for really cool stuff but they need a lot of research. So we decided to stay simple first, and we can add waveforms at any time once we get to finish our research (more waveforms don't require more knobbage - it's the most obvious area where we can extend Hive almost effortlessly)rod_zero wrote:I like Hive overall, simple, low on CPU. The only thing I would like are more waveforms for oscillators so it can get a broader palette and become a workhorse synth.
We've planned some more visual feedback, but it's not even in experimental stage yet. We put all of that aside when we wanted to meet yesterday's deadline for a stable, basic version.I am not crazy about the modulations matrix, honestly I prefer more visual systems as Twin2 or Circle, but is a step better than previous U-he synths.
There won't be feedback that shows each and every modulation at once in realtime. There will merely be feedback like "when you touch a knob it'll highlight anything that it's modulated by and when you work a modulator it'll highlight anything it modulates."
There are also ideas to create an Über-Scope that knows what you want to look at, i.e. displays envelope shapes while you edit envelopes, waveforms when you edit oscillators. These things however are mid to long term plans. I don't think we would like to delay the official release for this.

Some Modwheel presets. Easy to use and nothing to fancy. Enjoy anyway

Hahaha, I knew it!4damind wrote:Btw. I have a small feature request for the Phaser FX... sync to host
The Phaser is the same as the one in Diva, but we dropped teh host sync - mainly because the Rate knob gets inverted for host sync. We *can* bring it back, but we would like to do so once we have a plan to make it right, i.e. keep Rate "the hgher the faster" and still not break Diva presets. It's one of those odd things. Works well enough for Uhbik, but confuses the hell out of synth users.

The breakbeat-ish result of last night's drunken Hive messabout (the drums are obviously from other sources).
