Not at all what I was expecting to hear from Hive, but sounds lovely.
You really really really know how to build a sweet sounding synth engine.

WOOOO!!!Urs wrote:Ok, probably the most unexpected thing you've heard all day, but I had some fun dabbling with DX-style FM Synthesis while testing the script engine.

It's beautiful!! it's definitely got that 90's digital vibe just right, which is my favorite synth era of all :'D.

Personally though, I'm against MSEG's in the future. That's definitely more Zebra territory and I do agree that would be taking things a bit too far with complexity.

As far as this thread is concerned,... This came totally unexpected. It's enticing to upgrade the synth when time rolls aroundUrs wrote:Ok, probably the most unexpected thing you've heard all day...

That's actually exactly how i would describe Hive's general character... to each his own, but, i usually rolled off some of the highs, to make it sound a bit more pleasant (for me).snigelx wrote: this Dx has a slightly brighter, tine-y, more metallic character than what I hear in Zebra Dx's.

i believe what you guys are hearing is the ZDF filters, of which there are three different kinds. from clean to filthy. it would make sense to use a clean filter in this case, it’s a unique and individual sound that I am loving over here. especially with all the movement of the velocities. it’s lovely to me. it is a NEW sound though, based off Urs’ experience with what sounded good in the past.

Urs, you are killing me. Keep doing what you're doing, of course, but I'm getting way too excited for the next release of Hive. Maybe it's just the caffeine from my coffee just now... but seriously, Hive 1.2 is going to be very special indeed.Urs wrote:I was thinking about trying that next.surreal wrote:On the fm wavetable side... can hive replicate a dx 100 solid bass or a tx81z lately sound.. if it can, that to me would really be impressive! !

Greetings Urs!
I'm hoping that DX piano is a preset in the next release.

Ok, Lately gets close, but I need to actually listen to the TX to fine tweak. Gotta screw it out of its rack and somehow install on my desk... (haven't used MIDI in years...)

I used to own a TX81Z and no disrespect but I wouldn't spend one second trying to emulate any sound it can make. Hive's sound is already light years beyond the TX.
Wanting TX sounds out of Hive is like putting a Fiat 500 engine into a Ferrari 488 GTB......
