Still on 10. Each time a new version is announced I say 'I'll get it this time', then I think 'I'll wait til its 50% off', then that comes around and I decide to wait for the next version instead, and then the cycle repeats again. I do fancy it this time as I want the world libraries and prepared pianos. We'll see

Intel graphics do support OpenGL. There are certain issues with some older Intel HD chipsets, but that's all. Newer ones work fine.Ficciones wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 12:07 pmThat obsoletes a lot of recent laptops. Certainly most Mac laptops, which have integrated Intel graphics. I guess it depends on the OpenGL version the chipset supports? For Massive X e.g. it says that the graphics chip has to support OpenGL 2.1.EvilDragon wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 12:36 pmIntel graphics do support OpenGL. I was following them too. But that's true only given two circumstances:Ficciones wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 12:18 pm I was following some threads on the U-he forum and Urs didn't seem to think that was a big deal, because he's already got his code fairly abstracted and platform agnostic. Pretty sure Fabfilter won't have a problem with it either. As for NI their ironclad policy is to double down regardless of feedback or consequences.
- That particular dev was smart neough from the get go. (Urs is of course.)
- Apple won't decide to use the opportunity to introduce some drastic changes to the software platform. They want to unify both systems, right? Are we sure that for example the filesystem will stay working in the desktop manner when it's a closed deal on their mobile devices?

Why do they call it Komplete if the bundle isn't complete at all? They sell a lot of stuff during the year that you have to pay extra for. If they want money from us every year like a subscruption they should include all plugins that come out during the first year.
If you plan on purchasing your first Universal Audio hardware, you can get a free additional plugin. Just send a PM.

You assume that with "complete", they meant their complete portfolio.
Yes, and I want a Big Mac with double cheese on top of it. Unfortunately, life isn't a request concert. If they want money from us every year like a subscruption they should include all plugins that come out during the first year.

That's true, and I run OpenGL stuff just fine on my Macbook Pro with an Intel HD chipset. It's something to do with the combination of QT and OpenGL as NI has implemented it in Massive X - and, I assume, will do in the rest of their stuff. It's extraordinarily inefficient and makes my laptop heat up like a toaster. I imagine it's not directly NI's programming at fault, but some aspect of the libraries they're using.EvilDragon wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 12:36 pm Intel graphics do support OpenGL. They should call it NearlyKomplete Ultimate Collectors Edition.chk071 wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 12:52 pm You assume that with "complete", they meant their complete portfolio.

I guess they do, or else they wouldn't have stuck with the same policy for the last 5 years. (And despite nearly everyone saying the same thing every year when this happens. Maybe they know the market better than us - crazy thought).SLiC wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 12:10 pmcan anyone actually be that desperate for an update they wont wait 6 months to save 50%?
If you can use the new stuff right now on a gig, the current prices are good from even the previous version. If they're not so important to you, you can get them for a steal just by waiting. C'est la vie.

It's actually AFAIK a Qt bug with those certain Intel HD chipsets, so not even in NI's court to fix.Ficciones wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 1:03 pmThat's true, and I run OpenGL stuff just fine on my Macbook Pro with an Intel HD chipset. But curious - do you have the same issue in Mod/Crush Pack and Replika?

Considering that I wrote "My pet peeve is that there are NO symphonic products in «Komplete» 12" it is pretty safe to assume that I meant Symphony when I mentioned Essentials.chk071 wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 9:50 am Do you mean the Symphony Essentials?
I would like to have them as well in standard Komplete, but, you can't have everything. They sell them for 399 € as a separate product, so, I understand that they're only available in Ultimate.
I think it's a bit strange that you get both the essentials and the full versions in KU. Why not drip the essentials down to the (more and more laughably named) "Komplete" 13.
I have used Komplete since version 2, back when "Komplete" was more or less complete (although AFAIK it never has contained their complete offering). I also had the Komplete Care subscription until they discontinued it. I've had several of their Guitar Rig controllers, Kore, Kore 2 and now have a S49 mkii keyboard. I'll probably never forgive them for making my Kore controller obsolete almost overnight.
I'm a loyal and happy user (well, close to a fanboi). But the way they choose to bundle things just does not sit well with me.
The introduction of even more stupidly named Komplete Ultimate etc product varieties was amusing, but also a bit of a turn-off. I love the way they claim that if I upgrade to KU for $599, I "save" €14302.
I don't have a good business solution for how NI should price and sell their products, though. Maybe one thing they could do is to include a number of "fixed" products like Kontakt, Reaktor etc, then you get a number of points which lets you put in the products you want from their catalog. That way people like me could get more of what they need and less of hard-drive filling products I try once and never touch again.

OpenGL 2.1 was released in 2006. Which was 14 years ago.chk071 wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 12:37 pmI guess it depends on the OpenGL version the chipset supports? People, new products are supposed to work with new technologies. Don't complain that new 2020 synth does not go well with your 10-year old system.
It is perfectly fine to keep using very old setup, but then why you come here and complain about newest Komplete 13 products...

Ah, good to know it has a definite source, NI needs to get on top of the Qt guys to fix this.EvilDragon wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 1:53 pmIt's actually AFAIK a Qt bug with those certain Intel HD chipsets, so not even in NI's court to fix.Ficciones wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 1:03 pmThat's true, and I run OpenGL stuff just fine on my Macbook Pro with an Intel HD chipset. I just checked Replika and Bite and they don't have that problem, but the GUIs are much smaller and simpler and not as animated. I take it they also use Qt and OpenGL?
It's REALLY noticeable in Massive. Reaper's CPU usage jumps to 70% when the Massive X GUI is showing full size - the larger it is the more CPU it consumes. When I hide the Massive X GUI but still keep it loaded in a channel, Reaper idles at 15%.
