I just purchased the TC Electronic 8210 Reverb, Especially great Plate, but has great hall, and room as well, and more. You can demo it for two weeks via your iLok account if you have one.
$69.

The tails jump out as soon as they play the wet vocal. Renverb is hardly transparent. Perhaps we should just stop making music altogether as a comedy album took the prize in 1962?Pingafuego wrote: Sun May 02, 2021 1:43 pm A YouTube channel is showing Dua Lipa’s Don’t Break my Heart Mix session (2021 Grammy winning album), and the vocals use Pro Tools stock D-verb, Waves Renverb, Pro Tools stock delay, Soundtoys Echoboy and Waves H-Delay. In this case old and stock plugins did the job.

Fractal Audio's FAS-FX Reverb is the only thing I use. Same algorythms they use in the Axe-FX. Sadly no demo though.

That's one that flew under my radar. Nice set of controls. It seems to have fans among guitarists and it's priced reasonably.DeathByGuitar wrote: Mon May 03, 2021 4:05 am Fractal Audio's FAS-FX Reverb is the only thing I use. Same algorythms they use in the Axe-FX. Sadly no demo though.
Of course, I don't need another reverb.

I use HOFA IQ-Reverb 2, it’s a thing of beauty, so much control, it is both convolution and algorithmic, you can layer 7 together, it has a mixer, dynamics, ducking, eq’s and a ton of other options should you want to get deep into sound design. It amazes me how little attention it gets. Well worth a demo.

That’s kind of the gist of the thread, lightening!

Yeah, pretty much how these things go. Personally, I just go for bundles that I would have bought anyway and you get a number of good plugins that way. After you have five or six good reverbs from that process then picking a high end reverb that fills in that gap that you don't have makes more sense than trying to find some best general reverb under some price point. IMO, of course.

Jump out? Do you mean the tails sound metallic?
Anyway no one listens to an isolated wet vocal, you should listen to the reverb overall within the context of the mix. Isn't the RMX16 one the most celebrated reverbs despite operating at a low bit depth and being lofi by modern standards.

Got iZotope Neoverb a short while ago (as part of MPS4), but haven't been able to try it yet. So for now, it's like this birthday present you feel so excited about that you don't want to open it.
And please don't ruin the moment by saying it is just nah anyway.

+1 Upgraded recently from v1. It also has a huge library, properly sorted and a well made browser.simmo75 wrote: Mon May 03, 2021 6:34 am I use HOFA IQ-Reverb 2, it’s a thing of beauty, so much control, it is both convolution and algorithmic, you can layer 7 together, it has a mixer, dynamics, ducking, eq’s and a ton of other options should you want to get deep into sound design. It really could be argued that most of us don't need any of this and that also most of us will never make a hit.martinjuenke wrote: Mon May 03, 2021 8:03 pm D*rk on Fazebock (his positive group):

You can make a recording of good quality with the plugins that come with most DAWs.
You can make a recording of good quality with inexpensive reverbs that cost far less than $250.
In fact, you don't need to spend any money. You can make a very high quality recording as compared to times past with nothing more than free software.
I don't see the point of any of this, for most of us, is "hits." It's no different than buying some other thing that is prettier or more convenient. We don't buy things to decorate our homes because we want to be the next HGTV star, it just improves our life in some way.
So, I think the best reverb under $250 is the one that sparks the most joy and that doesn't bother you to part with $250. If your goal is to make hits, give that money to a mix engineer who doesn't need to ask the question on KVR in the first place, it will be a better investment in your future than buying more stuff.

The only thing you really need to make hits are great tits or the ability to talk like an opioid addict while being black
Also, Spacerek is rather good.
