Damn, things got so crazy that anyone who dare to say anything even remotely true, or possibly hurts someone's feelings, must be a bot. No human could possibly do that, why would they? We all know that there are things a human just won't do. Why? Doesn't matter, if it hurts someone's feelings its prohibited, we all know that. We are all the same in here, and must believe the same ideas, and BS, and we must fall in line, whatever that line might be. How dare you think for yourself? In UK even got illegal.
Sorry pal, you're the one here claiming that Soundtoys is suing people for talking shit about their software, which would hold absolutely no legal ground in any court I'm aware of, and every lawyer knows that..
I haven’t heard anything about Soundtoys doing that, but it is well known that Behringer does.

And the thing about being sued is that it doesn’t matter if the suit is meritless. The process is the punishment.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

Why talk about the process if nobody is getting sued?

No lawsuit means no process and no punishment.

Hey, how does Echoboy compare to Valhalla Delay? Is there enough of a difference to get it?

Post

The GUI of Echotoy is a bit too small for me.

I can't say that I'm surprised I'm getting attacked for voicing something that goes around audio communities - after all, anything and anyone that goes against someone's belief will get attacked in 2024 due to less and less tolerance to other views, but I am a bit disappointed for finding such a large chunk of snake-oil voodoo bs along with so many gullible folks in this forum, which was supposed to be about sound - a physical, totally measurable phenomenon.

So yeah, as funny or unbelievable as might seem, this is how rumors go - that someone goes on suing people for bad reviews of their plugins. Which for sure can be true or false, but definitely can be a reason why (at least some) people buy them - my previous statement which I do believe to be true. Now, if this hurts anyone's feelings because they choose to believe that the world is a sweet, innocent, pink place, where unicorns farts rainbows and blue hair grows naturally if you believe in it hard enough, that is not really my problem. As long as we live in the free part of the world where we can talk freely, I will do it.

Best wishes,

Stop leiran stop it or open a new thread this is about window screen size mate it feels embarrassing just reading it You will look back your comment a few years time and will selfacepalm yourself

I just did, but for different reasons. Embarrassed? About what? No reasons to be embarrassed, just slightly disappointed, that's all.

I'm sure there's differences but you're probably good.

drsyncenstein wrote: Sun Nov 17, 2024 6:03 pmDecapitator has such a long history of usage on popular music that it's a sound in it's own. It's very probable that people buy it because of it's "credentials". Which is probably the case for fabfilter also.
Rumor goes (and also public info that is no longer public) that any sound engineer who dare to truly say what they believe about it in a public manner (like youtube) is sued by soundtoys. That could be another reason why people are buying it, besides "credentials".
let's try and analyze your post.

First sentence:

Rumor goes (and also public info that is no longer public) that any sound engineer who dare to truly say what they believe about it in a public manner (like youtube) is sued by soundtoys.

Anyone can spread a rumour, so that's probably true. And let's assume they do sue (for the sake of your argument).
You have been saying pretty much what you believe in this public thread and it's pretty bad for soundtoys.
So based on your statements we have the following possibilities, of which only one can be true (by your own words);
a) you are being sued by soundtoys, or will be sued pretty soon
b) you are not a sound engineer

The second sentence states:

That could be another reason why people are buying it, besides "credentials"

Here i'm not really sure i understand what you are explaining.
  • Do you mean that you get sued first and then buy a license, as part of the court settlement?
  • Do you mean that any license soundtoys sells to sound engineers is just a follow up to a court settlement?
  • Are those sound engineers forced to update to newer bundles for a certain period as part of the courts orders?
  • How does soundtoys know which posters are sound engineers?
  • Why do they only sue sound engineers?
  • So in your opinion i'm safe if say bad things about soundtoys, when i'm not an sound engineer? Do i need to prove that to them?
Seriously, i'm intrigued by the things you know and would love to be enlightened even more!

Let me tell you EXACTLY the points that I was trying to convey in this thread and others. This way I will spare you and others lots of time and energy. You're welcome.

1. Software engineering is not some kind of black box that nobody knows what's inside. There are people - myself included - that have worked on this kind of stuff and knows what's inside. There are very complex plugins, daws, and other software products made by only one man - UI included. Some examples are sonic charge, cockos (before v5 or 6 when schwa came on board), melda production, and even u-he at the beginning, among many many others. Sure, then the teams get larger over time due to needs in sales, support, new products, etc. But scaling the UI of a plugin? One afternoon and its done, by a good coder. A month tops for a suite. Also, software got easier than ever to update and maintain. Not only that you can collect usage logs, but any coder have numerous tools - github copilot, automation tools, etc - that should have made software much cheaper. Also, take into consideration the explosion of this market - 65% of gen-z identify as creators.

2. There's a lot of "voodoo", new age, snake oil, name-it-what-you-like BS in this forum, and in this industry in general. Fancy words describing abstract concepts that actually means nothing, A LOT of halo effect, paid reviews, "sounds better" claims, and so on. Sometimes it looks more like a tarot convention around here than an engineering forum. This makes it very easy for some players to abuse this market and use this naivety for commercial gains.

3. There are companies that care about their customers, and companies that don't care. There are also companies that use legal actions against people who give bad reviews to their products. This is not something new, I certainly haven't invented this, and if anyone refuses to believe this, then they live in a fantasy land (tarot convention). And yes I did heard a rumor about this, and then I checked to see if I can find any negative review of their products. Not only that I haven't found any, but also there was no known audio youtuber who even got a review of their products. This led me to believe the rumor was actually true, and I wrote about it in a context.

4. There are a lot of fanboys, gullible folks who spread a lot of BS and disinformation. They also like to attack anyone who don't share their views. I certainly got attacked around here for saying some very well known truths. These guys are the ones who enable abusive behavior from an increasing number of companies, not only in this industry, but worldwide. If there was public pressure, ilok wouldn't be a thing right now. Prices would reflect the actual market value of a product. Nobody would have been . And these are just a few examples. And this is enabled by these brainwashed "brand ambassador" dudes and dudettes.

5. The socio-philosophical one: We live deeper than ever in Plato's cave. The level of tolerance for other views - different than one's own - have reached record negative values. Fewer and fewer people are willing to accept anything else other than their own beliefs. People get canceled for expressing unpopular opinions, and this got to be the norm. Therefore less and less people are willing to say what they think. We live the most fake times in existence. Everyone just wants to look good while doing dumb and evil things. Hypocrisy skyrocketed. More and more competent people are silent while the dumbs got louder and louder. But you can't tell someone they are dumb. No, that's forbidden. Also can't tell when a company lies or have an abusive behavior. God forbid, we all need to bow down and fall in line, and punish anyone who dares to think otherwise. Honestly, I felt like I'm in some kind of struggle session in here, and I can see this kind of pattern repeating itself in western society. Someone outright told me that I should be ashamed of myself for basically standing up for the users of a product I don't even own, just for the sake of the community.

This is madness..

But anyway, this is nothing new, and I haven't said anything that wasn't said already by others. I just haven't noticed that the world has changed so much, I was used to the falks who were here 15-20yrs ago, and therefore I just spoke my mind. Big mistake. Not anymore.

Does not mean that your previous one was not utter bullshit. Be so kind to acknowledge that too.
