Considering the Prophecy plugin is polyphonic and there is a lot of overlap I could see them making a hybrid Prophecy and Z1 with the best features of both. I would like that.EvilDragon wrote: Thu Dec 01, 2022 2:00 pmOf course they don't sound the same because Prophecy is only monophonic, so they could crank the output more instead of reducing it to have enough headroom for 12 (18) voices of polyphony. DSP algos are mostly the same, the difference is Prophecy has the dual waveshapers which Z1 doesn't. But Z1 has some more elaborate physical models that Prophecy doesn't. And of course Z1 is 4 part multitimbral, which is super nice.v1o wrote: Mon Nov 28, 2022 2:20 am The Korg Z1 did not sell very well. It made more sense to put in the Prophecy over Z1 as it has more of a legacy and it sounds better. I've compared both side by side and there's something that got lost in translation over on the Z1. The Prophecy just had more balls, they do not sound the same.
I don't think Prophecy sounds better than Z1 though, having played both.
I hope Korg will come out with a Z1 plugin too.![]()

Z1 has some additional oscillator modes (like a cool tuned noise oscillator that has 5 bandpass filters in parallel filtering some noise, electric piano model and bowed string model), doesn't have dual waveshapers, plus it's 4 part multitimbral. And also expandable to 18 voices. Also has XY pad instead of the log controller that Prophecy has.

I alway wondered why the electribe R sine wave sounded so dirty , that's because it's actually a parabolic sine
no boost )
Actually makes sense sense it's computationally less expensive ( early 2000 tech )
And the square wave on the vst aliases like a mofo just like the ipad edition
, I will delve deeper into it but at first hearing they sound near identical

Man, I'd love to see how old digital synthesizers like the Z1 managed things like this using the consumer-level processing power they had in 1997. That thing can't be more than the equivalent of, say, a 233 MHz Pentium, no?EvilDragon wrote: Sun Dec 11, 2022 7:27 pm Z1 has some additional oscillator modes (like a cool tuned noise oscillator that has 5 bandpass filters in parallel filtering some noise, electric piano model and bowed string model), doesn't have dual waveshapers, plus it's 4 part multitimbral. Even the DX7 in '83, I think seeing a step through the code would be neat.

It's simple, they did NOT use consumer-level processing power. They used purpose-built DSP chips. In case of Z1, 6 Texas Instruments TMS57002 chips for 12 voices. Those DSP chips had instructions that are directly useful for, well, calculating DSP algorithms in the fastest possible way, something that was not available on consumer-level CPUs at the time.
So, a Pentium equivalent is really not easy to calculate.

You obviously haven't seen how small the original GUI was.gbdev wrote: Mon Dec 12, 2022 2:11 am Just wish the GUI's were a little nicer to work with, I love the M1 VST but it's very dated and I find myself not wanting to mess around with it as much as other similar ones.

Go to plugins manager and search for 'micro', the manager would show you microKorg with status Unknown, change it to synth and click apply, then it would show in your browser:
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Bitwig 5, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I tried that before and it worked... Next time it was changed in "effect" again and it is impossible to change it

I've just checked, and it is still 'synth'. I uninstalled version 20 and installed the newest one v21 (but kept settings) and it is still 'synth'.
Yes, I couldn't change it either. Maybe try to rescan everything and repeat! Otherwise, I don't know really as I'm new to FL Studio. Maybe another user can help you here (or head to Image Line forums).

Does it operate as both a synth and a effect (vocoder)?Leichenschmaus wrote: Mon Dec 12, 2022 10:42 pm I tried that before and it worked... Next time it was changed in "effect" again and it is impossible to change it![]()
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.
