I have two MioXLs and I keep them in a rack under my desk out of sight. Having that many cables connected to the front just makes it difficult to use. At least on the XL, the ethernet port is on the back. On the MioXM, ethernet is on the front too!

I agree. The only jack I want to see on the front of a piece of 19" rack gear is a headphone jack.cryophonik wrote: Wed Feb 08, 2023 11:17 pmOMG, yesss!!! That's the one main reason I can't force myself to swap out my MOTU for an iConnectivity MioXL - not only are too many of the ins/outs on the front, the USB DAW connection is on the front, too! There's actually a user rant on youtube about it!

I'm thinking about getting a RackBrute as the solution for what to do with the West Pest. Right now my Minibrute 2S is sitting on top of my 3U rack box, and I feel like it'd be too tall that way. But if I can turn the box on its side instead, it's all good.
I really only need the 3U RackBrute, but looking at used prices, the 6U is basically the same price -- so I could go for that and have a really generous amount of room to play with. Just so long as I tell myself I don't have to fill it right away

Yeah, playing the OCD game of "what's wrong with my case?" is usually the obvious: it's not full!vurt wrote: Thu Feb 09, 2023 6:57 pm doesn't compute!

the answer btw, at the moment seems to be "tiptop buchla clones".Shabdahbriah wrote: Thu Feb 09, 2023 7:54 pmYeah, playing the OCD game of "what's wrong with my case?" is usually the obvious: it's not full!vurt wrote: Thu Feb 09, 2023 6:57 pm doesn't compute!

im worried, once i finish tidying around, there might be space
i thought it was over

That's the scary part... so long as there is room for cases, there's always one more module!vurt wrote: Thu Feb 09, 2023 7:57 pmthe answer btw, at the moment seems to be "tiptop buchla clones".Shabdahbriah wrote: Thu Feb 09, 2023 7:54 pmYeah, playing the OCD game of "what's wrong with my case?" is usually the obvious: it's not full!vurt wrote: Thu Feb 09, 2023 6:57 pm doesn't compute!

I haven't found any more space until I remove some things, which could happen? But there are definitely tons more modules I want.

i remember a couple from synthbooth last year that looked fun, but nothing that i really "need".
i do want to upgrade rene, but then worry the week after, they drop rene 3
and im finding less use for a couple of things than i first thought, envelopes for example, rarely use the adsr and never more than 2, and that's a huge module, im sure i can do something there eventually.
it will be a while before im looking to seriously go for anything other than the rene though, as post winter, bank account is not looking too healthy
but as i said just before the economy here tanked, at least if I can never afford another module, i have a system which as it is, can keep me going for a good few years before i get too pissed about all the sexy new modules

I intended to stop at the Buchla 281t Quad Function Generator, but then the 266t Source of Uncertainty, and Dual Oscillator are quite appealing. And stuff like this from Cinematic Laboratory, is seriously inspiring to me. My wishlist is
Tempe
Wogglebug
Rene 2 (or a 3 if that were to come)
XPAN
Or a more extreme idea would be to sell my Make Noise modules now and buy their Shared System.
I really like their videos and I want to take the easy route of just following their patches without workarounds. So long as they don’t do that two 0-Ctrl thing again.

@vurt: Just ignore all the cool new stuff, that's what I do. My system was just getting too large so I had to put on the brakes. Currently, I have no plans to buy any more modular. *crosses fingers

all because they called it strega
so now i want a coven
