Great update. Can't believe there's no chromatic choice for the scale. I have to believe they'll add it during the beta period.

A good update. But a bummer no midi retrospective recording, my n1. wished for feature. I also agree that there should be more exotic scales added.
I am having one issue. When I activate the button "write clip launcher automtation" nothing happens when I edit parameters. What am I doing wrong?

Maybe someone else know where this went -- in 5.x, in your left side track view, you usually see "I/O routing" and "Track height" toggles. The routing toggle lets you see more info per track, such as input and output device, and height of course does height. Is that not built into this beta yet, or did I just not see it yet?

I thought the same thing. I have got no active license at the moment, so I can't check. But as long as you don't engage this snap-to-key feature on devices or the piano roll, it is technically chromatic, isn't it?BazJacuzzi wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 2:44 am Great update. What does a chromatic option do that is different than how it's always been?BazJacuzzi wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 2:44 am Great update. Can't believe there's no chromatic choice for the scale. I have to believe they'll add it during the beta period.

Another user very happy with this update that will renew their license to support Bitwig 6.x and beyond.
Question to Linux users: since 5.3.8, I get a bug with text input not working after a while. Reported and found again at every update since. I got it again testing 6-beta-1: text input not working after a few minutes, having to restart Bitwig to make it work again. Has anyone found this issue in 6 as well?

I think it changed a bit, toggle automatic track height zoom to on, and while selecting a track it will show you the in and outputs. In my opinion much better like this. More room for the arranger that way. The automatic zoom button can be found down left, where you can switch on fx and hidden tracks buttons aswell.Milkman wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 4:53 am Maybe someone else know where this went -- in 5.x, in your left side track view, you usually see "I/O routing" and "Track height" toggles. It comes from people intentionally trying to cause a sh!tstorm.tumface wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 7:34 pmThese are very important features for many users that have been requested for years, delivered all together as a well-designed and coherent update on top of one of the DAW that has some of the most robust internals of them all. I have a feeling the key signature feature will be extended upon during the beta period, it feels a bit bare-bones still. But it makes sense to focus the inital development effort on just making it all work with a known set of scales and then adding customisability later.JHernandez wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 9:50 pmThat does seem silly af. It obviously has to change. I'm unlikely to use that feature, recording instruments and what not. I don't want some random key name hanging out at the top.tumface wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 8:57 pm Yeah, it's odd. There's also no way to hide it or turn it off. I have a pelog heptatonic song for Indonesian gamelan and Bitwig is proudly displaying C Major at the top of the project and there's no way to hide it or dim it or turn it off![]()

Yeah, it was a long planned conspiration involving Illuminatis and NSA with secret ceremonies under the full moonperpetual3 wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 8:37 amIt comes from people intentionally trying to cause a sh!tstorm.tumface wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 7:34 pmThese are very important features for many users that have been requested for years, delivered all together as a well-designed and coherent update on top of one of the DAW that has some of the most robust internals of them all. First of all, because I have invested money and time. Then, I think sharing experience from daily use is useful for others behind marketing screenshots and high level reviews. This is how things can go further.stamp wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 11:38 pmSince there seems to be other daws that satisfie your needs I'm asking you yet another time why the heck are you even here complaining? Why don't you just accept the fact that Bitwig is not the daw for you and move on?monolithx wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 11:19 pm
Short answer: MAX/MSP (&Co) reality land
Less short answer: I don't care too much about editing features, there are enough others DAWs and tools for that out there. Multichannel? VST3 midi? Controls UI? CC and Remotes management? MIDI manipulation (not modulators!)? Nope.
Note regarding the legendary "most robust internals": trust me, not on Windows...
As someone once said "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results"...
I just think that since they introduced the MIDI FX, this DAW doesn't bring anything into the market. And most problematic, doesn't improve weaknesses but keep adding features. So, yeah, as it is today vs when I invested into it, I go back to Live. This will not prevent me to give my opinion.

This release contains so many tweaks and improvements to existing functionality that I wouldn't even know where to start listing them. The update might not have had the focus you were wishing for, but by itself, this statement is just not accurate.monolithx wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 9:19 amAnd most problematic, doesn't improve weaknesses but keep adding features.

Of course you can have your opinion, but factually you're just flat out wrong. Many of the long standing complains have been addressed in this release and it's one of the few DAWs that heavily invest in tackling tech debt. I could create a list, but I'm not going to try to convince some who doesn't want to be convinced.monolithx wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 9:19 am And most problematic, doesn't improve weaknesses but keep adding features. Nothing more to say, enjoy Ableton!
