So far, I really love Hive. The only issue I am having using it in Pro Tools is that once I select a preset, it will only hold for a few takes and then goes silent, resulting in me having to reload the patch. This can be extremely frustrating, especially when I take the time to modify the sound.

This sound slike an accidental MIDI Learn… have a look at the MIDI Page to see if soemthing is learned, and then set to silence on, say, playback startKeithRossMusic wrote:So far, I really love Hive. Or how to specify ranges, say I only want the modwheel to trigger distortion amount only when it reaches past 75%?

do it through Your DAW...link the parameters to a macro or a midi controller

To a macro? What macro? on the keyboard? How would I go about linking parameters inside, say Orion, Fl Studio or Studio One? Will google search in the meantime..Nutrinoland wrote:do it through Your DAW...link the parameters to a macro or a midi controller

Yes, this is why we have matrix in Hive. Add + cutoff and the 2. slot - to resonance to anyTjivory wrote:Tjivory wrote:Is there some way to inversely link two parameters together besides the modwheel. Say I want the res to lessen as I increase the cutoff?

controllers.
You also can add distortion amount to about 25%.

You can use the mod matrix on the synth as Hollo said. Set the source as MOd wheel or Breath, expression. set the destinations as cutoff and in the second slot set resonance. set the mod amount for both slots in opposite directions. turn the mod wheel. If You want to set ranges and have more options while linking a midi controller, then link the filter cutoff and resonance to the same midi controller knob, in opposite directions. In FL studio, You will need to use the link to controller window. For 3rd party plugins, You will need to to select the synth's parameters that you want to modulate from the browse parameters list, which You can find on a drop down menu , from the top left corner of the wrapper window, the synth plugin is inside. in the link controller window set one of the parameters mapping formula as inverted...You can also do other things from the mapping formula, like only have a parameter move 50 % of the whole range etc...sory if this is a confusing explanation. it will be better to find some videos on Youtube about linking midi controllers in FL studio..or read the manual's section on midi controllers.

Confused, you mean simply link both controlls via the midi learn function so I can control them with the keyboard? How would that make them act in inverse? If you mean the mod matrix what source should I assign it to? About the distortion, I want zero distortion until only about the modwheel raised to 75, them when its fully raised to have the distortion at full. Kind like giveing keyzones on the keyboard but would apply to effects...hollo wrote:Yes, this is why we have matrix in Hive. Hah, this is very cleverNutrinoland wrote: If You want to set ranges and have more options while linking a midi controller, then link the filter cutoff and resonance to the same midi controller knob, in opposite directions.

What I meant was that if You link cutoff and resonance to the same midi controller(knob) in opposite directions (one of the two linked with an inverted mapping formula) then when You turn Your physical midi knob from 0-128 (zero to full) , the parameter with the regular mapping will also go from 0-128 while the parameter with the inverted formula will go from 128-0 ...in opposite directions....You can also set up the mapping formula so that any or both the parameters will only move through a specified range...for example as You turn the physical knob from 0-128, the cutoff will only go from 70-85 or 0-64 or 64-128 etc....You can specify a range that the parameter will correspond to the physical knob's 0-128 sweep...
Although,I'm not really sure How to achieve the result , You are looking for..which is to have a parameter, only start modulation at a certain position of the mod wheel/ midi controller....so that it is inactive while the mod wheel/ midi controller is at any position before the specified position, to begin affecting the parameter it will modulate. I think there is a way to do that, on some synths using a VIA function on the mod matrix...But I'm not sure...maybe somebody else can help with that. I would like to know too...

I've started locking myself into a chamber with just the Hive code and myself. It's going well so farShiek927 wrote:Now that we're entered May, I wonder what the ETA on Hive is. I believe u-he said that they were thinking of a release this month.
