Thanks so much for making this Simon. I think a lot of people will really appreciate it!

I'll make some myself after the next update, but this is a really great start!

My pleasure! The next one will cover time&pitch, those topics deserve a dedicated lesson :)

Very cool Simon. Amazing atmosphere... :tu:
Thank you, and that one was produced using a sample buffer of 128

Lately I have been working on integrating Kaleidoscope as an instrument into my works of various genres rather than making ambient tracks with only KS.

Even though I just use a single instance of Kaleidoscope in this jam session, I really like how it meshes with more traditional synthesis.

The signal chain for the KS part is Kaleidoscope -> Mono Absynth (All Pass / Aetherizer) -> B2, creates a very lush, rich rhytmic pattern.

Anyone know if they might have another sale on this soon?

A “Prime Pentatonic" tuning file and 2 custom images processing a panning tremolo I played on some Nepalese finger cymbals (at the end of the video the cymbals can be heard dry. Quite a lovely texture this is...

Miracle:
When collecting the presets for my subscription from dozens of subfolders I have to copy all assets to new folders which I can then distribute. So I copy e.g. 2 images and a waveform to 2 new dedicated folders, and now the miracle happens: when I copy the instance of KS to a new track in Logic (cmd+alt+drag) and open the new instance, the new locations of the assets have automatically been updated and I only have to save the preset in the new instance to the release folder, so I don't have to manually re-assign the assets inside presets. I don't think this miraculous behavior can be intended, but in my scenario it's very welcome.

Problem:
I also noticed, that KS will produce “missing this-and-that“ error messages, even when a certain asset is not being used in a preset, e.g. if you choose a tuning file and later switch the preset to waveform-mode and use a waveform, the tuning file will still be stored in the preset (or the waveform in the vice-verca situation), the same counts for muted engines in which an image had been selected before the muting occurred. So one has to always reset unused assets to “Default Image“/“Default Waveform"/"Default Tuning" to avoid these error messages.

What a nerdy post...
Over and out.

Some minimal morning music using 4 instances of KS with an ocean drum wave as audio input:

This is wonderful, very balinese, positive vibe, unstoppable but in an organic way..
waves break, but somehow it all makes sense.

Very pleasant yet advanced sound experience here. Thanks for posting!

It IS intended. We do not save absolute file paths. We save only file names. (So you should be careful not to name resources files the same thing ideally...)

This is by design. Directory search is alphabetical. So if there are multiple resources named the same thing, the first found match will be loaded. This has benefits such as: consider the factory presets have been making using some conetent from AV1. We copy this used content into a factory resource bank. Customers who do not have the AV1 add-on will still be able to load the presets correctly because they have all of used resources in the factory bank. So when they load a preset the resource browser will point to factory content.

But!

If they add the full AV1 content library, when they load the same preset, the resources will be loaded from the AV1 directory (because (A)-architecture Vol 1 comes before (F)-factory.). So if they then open the resource browser for Images of Tuning etc. they will see the entire family of similar resources in the same directly that are instantly available without searching. This is VERY powerful to quickly create preset variations/mutations...

The limitation of this, are:

1) "Big" content libs like AV1 should be listed before smaller ones in the browser. (happy accident Architecture starts with "A". :D )

2) If making custom content libs, you should use names that are fairly specific and unlikely to be duplicated elsewhere...

There was a bug at one point where the missing resource dialog would display BOTH when loading the preset that has a missing resource, AND when loading whatever the next preset was. (So the error dialog is actually referring the previous preset, but is being displayed at the wrong time.) I thought we fixed this? I will check. Thanks for the info. :tu:

Kaleidoscopic drone music, 2 instances with similar presets (Flute Drones), the waveforms for tuning the resonators were extracted from a flute sound, input sources are an ocean drum loop (to excite the bass frequencies) and a very bright waterfall percussion texture, custom images.

really great atmosphere Simon! Definitely has some kind of oceanographic feel to it! Deep sea water world!
