As much as I have shown negativity towards Tone2, I have to say that finally they put out a soundset demo that actually sounds fantastic to me and makes me actually consider... I'm sorry... It's very hard for me to say... Oh well, you guys get the idea. Congratulations Tone2 for a good job with this.Ingonator wrote:Tone2 just released "Electronix", the first official soundset for Icarus:

This includes 213 patches done by Markus Krause and Troels Nygaard from Tone2.
I got te soundset too (a free copy) and IMO it is a nice soundset but of course this is a matter of taste.

For the first time ever, I did finally actually listen to this synth. IMO, equally as good as Serum in sound quality. Does not sound like a typical Tone 2 synth.
So I will be writing to Tone 2 to see if I can purchase this for the same price as everybody in Europe pays for it. I still don't think it's fair that US citizens should have to pay over $30 more.
But I can't knock the sound of this thing. It is excellent and, owning Rayblaster and Electra 2, may be their best sounding synth. If you can get it for 149 Euro, it's a steal.
** EDIT ** I've emailed them. We'll see what they say.

You can get it for 149 Euro in the US. Just purchase from Tone2 using ShareIt. Choose "show prices in Euro" and pay with PayPal. I think it ended up as $165 USD on my credit card.wagtunes wrote:If you can get it for 149 Euro, it's a steal.

This is the very nice email that I got back from Tone 2.
They're going to look into having the site changed so this "bogus" price goes away.
Hopefully, the directions above will allow me to purchase this for the same price as everybody else and I can get my hands on, what I am sure is going to be a force in this industry.
So, in a nutshell, the reason they have their products priced at $199 is because back in the day, before the dollar tanked like a DC movie, the conversion came out to $199.Hey Steven, thanks for using our software.
The prices on Share-it should adjust based on the current value of the Euro.
Eg. today 149 Euros equals 166 Usd (the amount you should pay). The prices on our website don't adjust dynamically based on the value of the Euro.
I just did this calculation and realize 199 (as on our website) isn't representative for the actual price. I'll talk to Markus about it so that we can change it.
Of course residents in the US shouldn't pay more than people outside of the US. A few years ago the dollar had a lower value and the conversion 149 Euro to 199 Usd was more representative.
My point is that the 199 Usd thing is a habit from the past.
Try this: Before you check out you're able to change currency in the upper right corner of the page, what happens if you change the currency from Usd ro Euros? (see attached screenshot)
I think eg. Paypal will then do the conversion based on 149 Euros and not 199 Usd.
Why can't we just have a world currency?
Best
Troels

so basically they told you to do what has already been explained many times in this thread - change the currency to euros.

I was more concerned with the reason for the difference. Now that they explained it, makes sense.OneOfManyPauls wrote:so basically they told you to do what has already been explained many times in this thread - change the currency to euros.
But imagine how many US folks it put off from buying their products because of an antiquated pricing policy that they themselves admitted has to be fixed.

Icarus is now also available at Best Service, an official distributor for Tone2 products (they had presented an Icarus Beta at the Musikmesse 2016):
http://www.bestservice.de/en/icarus.html
You could change betwen 3 currencies (Euro, USD, GBP) at the top of the page.
While the price in Euros is similar to the official website for those that want to buy in USD Best Service is maybe a good option.

Downloaded demo. Worked.
Bought via their instructions. Came out to a little over $170 with conversion.
Sounds great. Looking forward to programming the crap out of this thing.

Same. I kinda hated that Electronix demo. I do have one question on custom wavetables.
If I create my own and drag and drop them in, do I have to include them in a folder or are they automatically embedded? It doesn't say in the manual. At least I can't find anything that does.

Okay, just found this in the manual.
So in other words, I don't have to save the WTs into a folder?TIP: Icarus patches are in fxp format. The fxp files contain the current patch setting,
but do also contain the wavetable data. The wavetable data is also stored directly
within your songs. You don't have to care or be scared about the content of the
Icarus_wavetables directory. Even if you should accidentally delete all factory
wavetables, your songs an all Icarus patches will not be broken and continue to
work.
