That was the feature that pushed Icarus over the top for me... Wavetables and single waveforms are indeed saved with teh patch files. A patch with a full 256 waves wavetable takes around 1 MB whiel a single wave takes around 4 KB.Mac of BIOnighT wrote:If you want to use that wt again in future, just save it in the wt folder, if you only want to use it that once, you needn't save it, as Icarus simply saves it as part of the patchwagtunes wrote: So in other words, I don't have to save the WTs into a folder?
If you use a full 256 waves wavetable at all 3 Oscs taht should be around 3 MB which is the maximum Patch file size.
You could save wavetables and waveforms at any place you like while i usually save them in my own sub-folder at teh "Icarus_waveforms" and "Icarus_Wavetables" folders (found at the installation path like e.g. C:\vstplugins or others depending on how you installed it).
The patches are found in the "Icarus_sounds" foder and i got my own sub-folders there too.
A nice way to reduce the size of wavetables is in the MIX menu at teh watebale editor using "Half size interpolated" whcih will remove each second wave while it adds interpolation.
If you got teh "Fade" knob in the Icarus Oscs at maximum you could also get smotth results with a small amount of waveforms.
With "Fade" at minimum you get hard steps between the waveforms without any interpolation. This is useful if teh wavetable itself alraedy has teh full 256 waveforms or if you want to step trough a lot waveforms in a table without morphing betwen them.

Ah, so there's the rub. These patches can get very big, very fast.Ingonator wrote:Wavetables and single waveforms are indeed saved with teh patch files. I find they compress to about half that - but even at 3mb, is that really an issue with how cheap storage is these days?

My apologies, my brain is slower than usual today (and it's not very fast to begin with) - what do you mean by "save in one place"?pdxindy wrote: That was the feature that pushed Icarus over the top for me... I want to hit save in one place.

He means you don't have to save the wavetables separately for the patch to refer to (like in serum). You just save the patch and that's it.Mac of BIOnighT wrote:My apologies, my brain is slower than usual today (and it's not very fast to begin with) - what do you mean by "save in one place"?pdxindy wrote: That was the feature that pushed Icarus over the top for me... 3 MB is the limit (which is still reasonalble IMO) and you do not have to use 3 Oscs with 3 wavetables with the full 256 waveforms each for every patch.wagtunes wrote: Ah, so there's the rub. These patches can get very big, very fast.
I also got a bunch of patches that use 3 Oscs with single waveforms and those patches are around 17 KB small.
To get "big" sounds you do not actuallöy need multiple Oscs, you could use one of teh Inison modes wher my favorites are the "HyperStereo" modes (based on the Virus TI Hypersaw but for all waveforms and with stereo width). Actually the most used mode for me is "HyperStereo 4".

I meant, I like that you can simply save the wavetable with the preset... not have to save it separately if you don't want to.Mac of BIOnighT wrote:My apologies, my brain is slower than usual today (and it's not very fast to begin with) - what do you mean by "save in one place"?pdxindy wrote: That was the feature that pushed Icarus over the top for me... Exactly. Big sounds come more from detune than mass. You can layer 6 waves on top of each other but if there's no pitch spread you wouldn't know it.Ingonator wrote:3 MB is the limit (which is still reasonalble IMO) and you do not have to use 3 Oscs with 3 wavetables with the full 256 waveforms each for every patch.wagtunes wrote: Ah, so there's the rub. I mean take a simple sawtooth wave. Multiply by 3. Go down an octave on one and up an octave on another. What a sound. Add a little detune or a sub osc and it can be thunderously huge.
3 OSCs for this thing is more than enough with all the controls it has.

Yesterday i had the idea to do recordings/samples and Resyntheeis of differnt vessels made of leaded crystal glass being hit/striked in certain ways.
I had combined resulting waveforms of multiple recordings and their Resynthesis in a single wavetable with 166 waveforms (volume of all waverforms normalized/maximized opposing to the orginal Resynthesis results).
You could find the download and more details at this thread i just started at the Tone2 forum:

UPDATE:
Additional wavetables and a patch created by OneOfManyPauls were added to the thread at the Tone2 forum.

Based on the feature request posted at the corresponding thread at the Icarus sub-forum on the official Tone2 forum Markus just posted hints concerning an upcoming v1.1 update for Icarus taht he is currently working on:

AFAIK the drag&drop modulation should automatically create a corresponding entry in the mod matrix but i did not have the opportunity to check the faeture myself yet.I am currently working on the update v1.1.
It will include a large number of enhancements and new features. One highlight will be the ability to route the modulation with drag&drop.
The update will be avaibale for free for all Icarus customers. It will be released in October or November.
