He's not playing very quickly though. It behaves a little strange when you throw a lot of notes at it. I have a Boss Octaver and it doesn't have this problem.Chibs' Bath Toy wrote:Tracked fine when the guitarist in the video played it.Guitarjeff wrote:When you play it live, it tracks strangely on some notes. Just curious goes back to a difference in opinions years ago...how often do you actually use it? (not just messing about with it)...Guitarjeff wrote:He's not playing very quickly though. btw anyone ever stopped to think what tech 21 is doing with soft amps, there is a psa 1 for pro tools now....wouldn't that be something if it was vst too?...

Ah ok. See that I can understand. I used an Electro Harmonix Octaver once. It didn't have that problem either.Guitarjeff wrote:He's not playing very quickly though. I have a Boss OC-2 and it DEFINITELY has the same problem. It's due to the design of the circuit. It's very simple to implement even in digital form and shouldn't sound much different.
(my vox tonelab octaver has the same problem, too.)

That Bomb Factory PSA does sound pretty nice Hink...but the real macoy still trumps it despite what they want us to believe. The analog pre responds better and has more torque.Hink wrote:btw anyone ever stopped to think what tech 21 is doing with soft amps, there is a psa 1 for pro tools now....wouldn't that be something if it was vst too?...

Hey Jeff...thank you for the info...you're a much better guitarist than I am so I'm glad to have your readings...Guitarjeff wrote:I used to use the POD quite a bit, but my main thing now is Re-amping my Marshall and Soldano amps with my x-amp box.beergeek wrote: Hey Jeff...
Just curious if you use any amp sims? Reason I ask is you're basically the only guitarist who has demoed it (and said anything about it.)
So neither AT2 or GR2 did anything for you....did you happen to check out the Waves GTR or whatever it's called.
Not a good sign that the only real review basically says it ain't all that![]()
Like your music btw!
As for virtual amp sims, I own Amplitube 1 and Guitar Rig 2. I use them occaisionally, but not on critical stuff. I would not use them for my main rhythm parts. Maybe for some specialty sounds or fills. I really like the idea of these things, I just wish they sounded better.
I demo'd GTR and thought the Cabinet section might be the best of the bunch but the amp section was a bit fizzy AND muddy at the same time. I Also had some major stability problems with the GTR demo.
I am not Komplete-ly (heh heh)disappointed with GR-2. It's the best so far IMO. I can dial in serviceable sounds, but it's a pain. The presets on any of these sims don't seem to sound very good with my Les Pauls.
To be fair, I didn't spend a whole lot of time with A2. Maybe 15-20 minutes. The presets they had didn't sound good to me though. And that's using the guitar they had on hand. It had that characteristic fizzyness. Their demo bands playing through it sounded really thin. Contrast that with Dweezil Zappa's GR 2 demo which sounded much better. Much better than it sounds at my house also.![]()
Thanks for the compliment on my music!![]()
Cheers,
Jeff
I'm not a very fast player (arthritis and shit happens when you get old)...but I hope at least tasteful
The wah certainly isn't my old crybaby but I think it's all pretty decent for a sim...at least the dynamics thing seemed better than what I've tried out...
Anyways... thanks for the info and keep up the good work...
If anyone hasn't listened to Jeff's stuff (Outlanders) check it out...very nice...

This might be covered somewhere in the last 2-3000 posts but.... was there ever an official announcement regarding copy protection? In the beginning of this thread there was a lot of "unofficial" speculation but I don't see anything from IK that says what they are using yet.... thx
