trusampler wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 6:45 am Just purchased this tonight, one request if possible, please have a look at adding qwerty keyboard support for changing patches using up n down arrows on our keyboard.

I also notice while sequence is playing back in daw, and if I change patches, there's a weird buzzing sound, while it changes the program almost like it's struggling with this.
I dont know if its a good idea to add query arrows, do any other synths do that? What happens when you press the arrows in the daw to do something else and it changes the preset? By the way Viper supports program change midi, so you can assign the keyboard arrows in your DAW somehow.

Regarding the buzzing sound, right now Viper uses a lot of CPU just that instant when it updates the parameters, thats why you might get a little audio dropout, thas what you are hearing. In the future I plan to rewrite this from scratch and hope it will help but it will take a while, it will be a big job.

Please don't do that. Rob Papen has this and its annoying "feature".

I was watching this synth since the very beginning. It instantly provided something different when it comes to sound. I just wanted to show my respect to developer. Job well done, product improved a lot. Like really.

Keep up the good work matte.

(and sell that FX unit from Viper as standalone FX VST unit hehehe - really dig reverb )

Annoying ? Ok :scared: To answer your question Adam, Companies like u-he and spectrasonics , every single native instruments synth, all use the qwerty arrows for navigating thru presets.

I didn't realize such a well known feature for workflow, could be annoying to some, weird..
I can use program changes via my midi controller no big deal, but I'd prefer to use the arrows on my qwerty keyboard, thanks for the consideration.

As far as changing presets and the buzzing sound, the answer is NO , none of my other synths do that. So it's exclusive to this synth. So yes it's most likely a CPU issue with this synth.
I went back and read some other users having issues with cpu, pops and clicks, so this is probably associated with it. FXpansion once had an issue with DCAM in their early days ,with a similar issue.
Hope you get the CPU issues sorted out with this synth.

Great job with this synth Adam ! Thanks

You can change the envelope behaviour via the mod matrix.

i think its subjective, if its optional where you can turn on or off im ok with that, but generaly its pretty annoying to me because im using keyboard commands for the DAW including arrows.

Right on I can understand that.

It looks and sounds good! I'm going to give the demo a try.

Will this actually load official patches as well? I read where someone mentioned that Viper may be able to possibly load Virus sounds, is this wavetables or actual patches?
thnx in advance.

Wavetables.
There is an unofficial pack of Virus WTs, which someone has converted into Serum format, which can be used in Viper or any other synth that can read Serum WTs.

Viper can't load Virus presets
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Thanks for clarifying this.

We wish! For sure this would end the "make more content for Viper plz".
And it's definitely possible.

Sadly the wavetables have been recorded with Interpolation 100% on so it's impossible to properly recreate the virus sound with interpolation off / other values than completely on.

they would still be analogous imo
I could record them again sometime- but damn that would take some time

Here are some of the ones from Virus C that kick around,
u should be able to modify them to load in Viper.
They are from the Reaktor ensemble 'Viral Extinction'-
I understand they are sampled from the C
Kemper has given permission for 3rd parties to rip it,
I guess the hardware is an experience, and not so much tied to a cycle wt==>

edit- I had a quick look at these and they are 169 samples, which is lo-fi,
I hope they are still useful. I can do a say 2048 sample bank, which would be the end of the keyboard,
ie. 20hz on a Virus TI sometime. Actually I should push the samplerate right up and render like 4096,
it's something I'll get around to doing for us
