Sound Replacer is limited to 3 samples, based on what I just read. This SPL thing has multiple sample slots. He set up 8 in the video I watched and there was room for more. I guess if it works well, you can switch out ones that don't sound as good. I think it will end up being one of those things that sounds good to me but it too much trouble to deal with. Which sounds funny because I end up cutting and pasting audio instead. Back to the old days when we edited tape. LOL! But it is easy for me.Ichad.c wrote:Also hoping PA unlocks all the specials at the end of the month, been keeping the GAS in check all this time.
P.S. Pro-tools has "Sound Replacer" that does the same thing I think, wasn't 100% accurate, haven't used PT in years though, so don't know if it still has it or something similar. It's a mix(for engineers)/remix(for musicians) tool. So if you don't work with pre-recorded material a lot, I don't think you'll use it much. I'll definitely grab it though.

So BX Boom and DrumXchanger will be in the final sale but bx ditigal V3 won't?Gamma-UT wrote:My guess is that the special-specials that span two days (like bx_digital at the moment) won't be in the final batch at the end of the month but the regular advent offers will.Ichad.c wrote:Also hoping PA unlocks all the specials at the end of the month, been keeping the GAS in check all this time.
I am okay with that!

Yes, what I had in mind, In addition what the DrumXChanger is meant to use, you can use it also in a more creative way: because you can import your own sounds to it, you can make your original percussive sounds to trigger completely different sounds than just drums. If you blend your original sound and the triggered sound, adjust the transients, sustain, Eq, dynamics of both the original and triggered, and mix those, the DrumXChanger may function as a fx as much as an enhancer.Ichad.c wrote:Also hoping PA unlocks all the specials at the end of the month, been keeping the GAS in check all this time.

This all is a big IF so far, because I have no experience of it, yet, but will get some.

Since I could'nt get Sonokinetic Ostinato Brass for free even though there was 100 left according to the countdown I wrote an email and attached screenshot showing my checkout and the countdown. here is the reply I got:

Hi,
this was merely an issue of the ticker not keeping up with the speed the libraries were being checked out!
The serials we had available for the free promotion were actually gone by then.
Apologies for getting your hopes up, this was something we had no control over!
Kind regards,
Son Thomsen
CEO - Sonokinetic BV
So yeah...the countdown does'nt mean your gonna get it.

Can anyone confirm this?pheeleep wrote:Was reading about the SPl drum replacer plugin on Gearslutz and it apparently also comes with the SPl transient designer as a separate plugin.

I use Addictive Trigger to extract the rhythm from songs and loops then it spits out pre-mapped MIDI I can attach anything to. DrumXChanger doesn't seem to output MIDI so it's a more limited version. Both will replace drums with kits 0/100%, but AT you have to use their kits. So if you want to use your own kits and don't care about MIDI, then this looks like an option. I don't know how flexible the fingerprinting is, but I can abuse Addictive Trigger to detect non-drums as drums, which leads to all sorts of creative possibilities.Harry_HH wrote:Why I ask the user comments especially for the DrumXChanger is, that doing a demo won´t necessary reveal the real usefulness of this kind of plugin. In theory the DrumXChanger is really fancy, but does it fit in the work flow in the real life? Or is it one of those plugins you use twice, and then forget it.
There's also plain old drum reinforcement, so if you work with acoustic drums it can be very useful. Throw a kick sub on the kick to beef it up, add a piccolo to the snare to brighten it, etc.

What is this "Spl drum replacer plugin" anyway?
I know the Spl DrumXChanger, which discussed in here, but that something else, if not, why not call and identify as it is.
In DrumXChanger transient and sustain shaper is integrated to the plugin, no separate transient shapers..

I haven't seen Addictive Trigger for much less than half off its $150 SRP. Has anyone else?
