While that is sadly quite true, there are also many, many people who couldn't care less if a plugin sounds like this or that, only if it sounds good. Like I even knew what a some LA thingy sounds like, even less if it's something that I would like to have my limiter to sound like.Kingston wrote:it's very pretty.ddummer wrote:But I'm NOT going for a LA2A clone or emulation! Just wanna capture the soul of the concept.
but this is KVR. The Antress fiasco proved you shouldn't play with peoples preconceptions of what something should sound like. Stick in such an obvious LA-2A GUI to your plugin and half of the people will praise it as the best authentic LA clone since sliced bread and toasters, and the second half will be calling you a dick for trying to fool the other half.
NOBODY will remember you were actually just paying homage to design X from year Y.
Ie. change the color scheme and you'll be alright. remember to stick to warm colors since it's "vintage" and people will hear the change respectively.
I kid. I kid.
To be honest knowing that the plugin is made by ddummer means a lot more to me than knowing that it is inspired by some esoteric hardware unit, at least I have some point of reference and can actually do my own comparisons and evaluations.
I really like the antialiased markings on your mock-up, sharp is beautiful
