i would much rather have a quality synth thats kills my pc than 10 average ones that are lite on cpu
I don't need a CPU-hungry plugin that sounds stellar on it's own but brings nothing useful into a mix over another good sounding plugin with light CPU-demands.

The whole debate about 'good sound' is very subjective but in most cases has little to do with how an instrument actually performs in a complete mix. The DX7 is a great example in this case; everyone nowadays will say how very bad it sounds, that it has no FX on it, etc. But it became the success it was because it had great quality sitting in a complete mix. And remember, it didn't sound warm or analog or anything like that, it sounded cold and digital.

on its own or in a mix, doesnt matter, if the synth sounds great, you use it, you dont settle for a second rate sound do you, just because your cpu cant handle it...bounce it down, but ALWAYS use the best sounds you have

Yours or mine.... as I don't see any evidence why your opinion has more merit then mine.

But hey, let's just agree to disagree :)

I do agree with you, but... what sounds 'good' is a personal choice. Over time I learned to not get too hung up on hype about this or that synth sounding 'better' then another one. There are bad sounding plugins, sure, but there are a many plugins that doesn't have the best anti-aliasing or oversampling or what else but actually sound GREAT in a mix.

Why use some expensive, huge download, CPU-hungry plugin when some free mean and lean instrument like Synth1 gives exactly what I need. You see, I don't need the 'best sounding' synthesizer, I need the synthesizer that 'sounds best in my mix'. Those two things are not always the same

There's so many suggestions.
I seriously doubt that he would be able to do half.
Imagine how much time it would take to do all that.
Maybe someone could translate to him.

"Get a Paypal account and "donate" button."

This way seeing that time is money and all, those wanting Synth1 updated with more features, can at least help in some way with the support to help the process along that way.
Just an idea.

I'd like a mac version, so I'll donate my old powerbook g4 to him.
Only problem is, that wouldn't make it intel compatible I think. :(
It's just collecting dust anyway. Can't sell it either.

yes, i understand that, but in your post you said you retired synths based on cpu, which seems daft to me

sound qulaity comes first for me, so if a synths sounds great, gives me what i need but has a high cpu hit, i would still choose that synth

No ones gonna buy a non intel based mac these days.
It's 2003...ancient.
I believe it needs the soundcard replaced also.
1gb ram isn't enouph either.
The shipping would cost more than what I could get for it. :hihi:

or they could just buy a synth that has all the features they want? There's a novel idea

This is one hell of a good synth with a sound that still stands up after 8 years after I started to use it. And no matter what you peeps, who cries out loud now for updated audio, thinks. It is not the audio in itself that matters. As long as I can use it to get my songs to sound proper then I'm more than happy. And as for color schemes here is the one I use the most. Fits FL Studio's default theme perfectly:

OK, need to elaborate then: Choosing between two synths where one is sounding a bit better then the alternative but uses 4-6 times as much CPU. Then it's a simple one for me as the other synth gives me 4-6 instances compared to one that will not bring anything special to the mix other then the notion that it sounded better on it's own.

For me that trade-off is simple
