As I understand this is mostly used for big and spacey reverbs. But how does it perform with more regular tasks?

... and, to completely strict the picture is not of a black hole - you can't take a picture of a black hole. the picture is of the radiation that is bend around the black hole as it appears to earth. the black hole itself is about 1/3 the diameter of the black space in the middle.

Great track Plexus! As important for this thread: your track clearly shows that the reverb doesn't have to be massive (as it is in most demos showing off its capabilities).

I think your track is very creative too.

BTW, it's on sale at JRR for 24.65 $ at the moment, so even cheaper than 29.

Does Blackhole do diffusion like Replika XT? Or not really because Replika XT is a delay? Love the diffusion in Replika XT and want another plugin that offers more of that.

Give the demo a try, really that's the only way you can decide how much you like it.
Its worth the time and effort.

I love valhala shimmer, but I bought blackhole as well at this new low price (under 50 bucks) and have enjoyed playing with it. I think they both found good, but if I could only have one it would be shimmer as it can do the 'blackhole' type large ambient verbs and a lot more. It's all about the base sound you put the reverb on, from a big poly synth patch to a simple accoustic guitar, I can get great results with shimmer (but I do like blackhole as well, not sure I realy need both, but I have enjoyed playing with it and there are some cool presets included)

Based on this and a couple of other posts in this thread, I'll skip BH and go with Shimmer, as long as I can get something similar to BH with Shimmer, I figure, why not? I Doubt I need both.

Okay, after the recommendations of getting Extraordinary Spaces, I'm giving the BH demo an honest try.

I've demoed it now. I really like the sound of this. I think it can perform in shorter reverb departments, even though it's more of a "unreal" reverb, but sometimes you want that - especielly in electronic productions.

Now when everyone is comparing I would also say that I like it a bit more than valhalla shimmer. But Shimmers strongest point is the pitchshifting imho so I wouldnt say they are the same kind of reverb to be compared at all.

The best way I can put is that Blackhole sounds cleaner and thinner while Replika XT sounds thicker. They can both do the same thing. XenoVerb can also do similar verbs and is also worth a look. I have all three and like them all.
