Yes, they also use Qt/OGL, which is why I ask. MX is definitely a way more complex GUI (even if it looks simple and clean at a glance), so I bet that's one of the factors playing into it.

Urs started coding plug ins on OS X and AU only, apparently he's a "sheeple".FarleyCZ wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 12:40 pmI was following them too. But that's true only given two circumstances:Ficciones wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 12:18 pm I was following some threads on the U-he forum and Urs didn't seem to think that was a big deal, because he's already got his code fairly abstracted and platform agnostic. Pretty sure Fabfilter won't have a problem with it either. As for NI their ironclad policy is to double down regardless of feedback or consequences.
- That particular dev was smart neough from the get go. (Urs is of course.)
- Apple won't decide to use the opportunity to introduce some drastic changes to the software platform. They want to unify both systems, right? Are we sure that for example the filesystem will stay working in the desktop manner when it's a closed deal on their mobile devices?
Read up on the transition, OS X is not becoming iOS, iOS has always been a stripped down version of OS X, so with the transition to the same Arm based Apple designed chips it's possible for iOS apps to run on OS X, it's not going to be necessarily true the other way around.

I bought K10U in 2015, 50% off sale etc. I've owned Komplete since version 2, and around v7 I realized the best financial decision is to skip a version to upgrade. The only reason I'm so far behind is I missed a few 50% off sales, and I'm not stressed by it.Dombaeb wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 11:00 amFunny how you call a situation in which you have been waiting for 7 years a "fantastic upgrade policy". Are you immortal?machinesworking wrote: Tue Sep 01, 2020 6:09 pm Funny how KVR is. This is a great thing, I'm on Komplete Ultimate 10, and my upgrade price is $399, with all of 11, 12, and 13's improvements included. If I can hold out until next year or so, I get it for $199. NI Have a fantastic upgrade policy, if you're capable of holding out.
I think, "fantastic upgrade policy" is a system that gives you the opportunity to upgrade every year/month/release while feeling that you are getting more than you pay.
Anyway, I like NI, really. Just because of their products and human-oriented support.
You're always going to pay the most for products as soon as they're introduced, some people like game, movie, and TV show composers can afford to, and want things as soon as they come out, and are willing to pay a premium price for them. I'm not going to fault NI for doing what most of the industry does, and for in the bigger picture, offering us a better discount if we can wait than what they could offer if they charged the same price for Komplete the entire time.
You're always getting more than what you pay with Komplete, the issue with people is they either have no use for, or have other libraries and plug ins that cover what Komplete offers, then erroneously state that Komplete isn't offering anything new....
Again, I will state that I really like the policy as it is, I can jump on or off the bandwagon when I want, some companies limit the upgrades to a version or two, or charge extra for those of us with really old versions, NI does not. So I hope they never change it.

As does the current Native Access, so you should be fine.chk071 wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 12:37 pmI guess it depends on the OpenGL version the chipset supports? For Massive X e.g. it says that the graphics chip has to support OpenGL 2.1.EvilDragon wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 12:36 pmIntel graphics do support OpenGL. And it looks like Native Access uses Qt too (I see over 700 files in various QT sub-folders for NA)Graphics hardware support for OpenGL 2.1 or higher

One thing I did spot, is that Komplete 13 System Reqs on Windows are:
Can anyone shed any light oh what part of K13 will not run on Windows 7?Windows 10 (64-bit, latest Service Pack)
And, does Windows 10 have Service Packs?

Of course there's in fact a chance of incompatibility, but such statements usually only mean that the developer did not test it in older environments and won't fix stuff for people that are below those specs. Can anyone shed any light oh what part of K13 will not run on Windows 7?
At least regarding the Windows side of things. OS X seems to break compatibility stuff pretty regularly from what i gather.
Simply download a demo and see if it works satisfactory.
The GAS is always greener on the other side!

I've also noticed the scaling/CPU consumption, when massive's GUI is open it is really inefficient, this is a shame because it sounds nice but the functionality is awful.Ficciones wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 2:13 pmAh, good to know it has a definite source, NI needs to get on top of the Qt guys to fix this.EvilDragon wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 1:53 pmIt's actually AFAIK a Qt bug with those certain Intel HD chipsets, so not even in NI's court to fix.Ficciones wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 1:03 pmThat's true, and I run OpenGL stuff just fine on my Macbook Pro with an Intel HD chipset. It's something to do with the combination of QT and OpenGL as NI has implemented it in Massive X - and, I assume, will do in the rest of their stuff.EvilDragon wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 12:36 pm Intel graphics do support OpenGL. But curious - do you have the same issue in Mod/Crush Pack and Replika?
I just checked Replika and Bite and they don't have that problem, but the GUIs are much smaller and simpler and not as animated. I take it they also use Qt and OpenGL?
It's REALLY noticeable in Massive. Reaper's CPU usage jumps to 70% when the Massive X GUI is showing full size - the larger it is the more CPU it consumes. When I hide the Massive X GUI but still keep it loaded in a channel, Reaper idles at 15%.

OK but Arturia Pigments, for example, has a much busier and more animated GUI and doesn't pin my CPU the same way. Something is off in Massive X.EvilDragon wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 2:33 pm Yes, they also use Qt/OGL, which is why I ask. Indeed, very nice sounding synth, but unusable for me because of that GUI CPU bug, and the half-assed browser doesn't help either. I don't get it, because they already had preset browsing solved perfectly in many of their other products.Lucastyle wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 4:36 pm I've also noticed the scaling/CPU consumption, when massive's GUI is open it is really inefficient, this is a shame because it sounds nice but the functionality is awful.

I don’t think W10 has service packs in the traditional sense. Instead you get new builds released around every six months. These builds are referred to by the year and month of release, so since 2015 we’ve had (amongst others) 1507, 1511, 1607, 1703, 1909 and 2004.DarkStar wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 3:32 pm One thing I did spot, is that Komplete 13 System Reqs on Windows are:Can anyone shed any light oh what part of K13 will not run on Windows 7?Windows 10 (64-bit, latest Service Pack)

I use Intel Integrated graphics in my workstation (8700K, 48GB, EMU1820) and in a Dell Laptop made in 2013 also without dedicated graphics. Both have enough HW to run everything in Komplete 12 U CE, including Massive X. Both under W10.Ficciones wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 12:07 pm

From what I read I guess that REALLY old Macs or Windows machines with Intel graphics will have problems. I am aware that some not-so-old MacPros had issues with MX, but the issue was the choice of really old Xeon processors for this generation (I believe latest MacPros before the trash can, including models sold in 2012, but not sure).
Already said, I did not read to the end
In my case I am VERY happy with the upgrade, since I am most interested in cinematic and orchestral kontakt libraries. Now the acoustic and electric guitars will be usable for "real MIDI music" (not riffs). I find the "play series" instruments VERY appealing and I am finally interested in some expansions (Massive and MX, I do not have Maschine).
I do not care about GR6, I own both Helix and Native Helix. But it does not hurt either.
SO... My plan was to skip this version and wait ~33 months to update my K12U-CE to K14U-CE, but K13UCE exceeded my expectations so I'll update in ~9 months.
If summer discounts are what we all expect, it will be a lot of very decent samples (perhaps best in a few cases) at a price lower than 1€ per GB. I can wait 9 months but I cannot wait 2 more years to save 50% of the money. That's the good thing about using Komplete!

Guitar Rig 6 Pro - Available October 1, 2020:
Full version: 199 USD
Upgrade: 149 USD
Update: 99 USD"
"Users will also be able to pitch in and help decide what kind of hardware should be modelled for future updates."
Anyone know what is the "Update" path is?
I don't mind paying to ugrade, but will we have to pay an update fee when new amps/effects are released?
