Yes, I would also like to see a more direct way to "bounce in place" but the "workaround" is not that bad. In conjunction with the ability of resampling, it's just fine IMO.

And I use Wavosaur as an external audio-editor when needed. It loads fast, is uncluttered and brings a good amount of basic destructive editing features.
I think this whole discussion is about whining on a quite high level... the way Ableton does it is far from being unuseable and I tbh really like the BiP device on top of what Ableton offers as it allows me quickly to bounce/record multiple clips from different sources into one file... that´s far more important for me than having a little bit quicker method to bounce just a clip on the current channel
Do you mean the m4l device by Valiumdupeuple? I never used it. One can record from different tracks at once? Like resampling but without resampling the master track?

What I love about Ableton is finding gems like this one and so much more.
It’s just fun.

Mostly my universal since 2003 complaint is the lack of extensive keyboard shortcuts, but it generally at the very least has all the shortcuts in the Menu bar at top in Mac OS. Recently Metasystems found a way to make Metagrid capable on Mac anyway of accessing all the menu items regardlkess of whether you can assign a keyboard shortcut or not.

So I'm signed up for the beta, and will immediately spend time making a Live 12 template for Metagrid. I'm excited to see what can be done to speed up workflow, and I'll eventually release it for peanuts on their Metagrid store. :)

Oh and score one for Ableton, Bitwig do not use the Mac OS Menu bar even on Mac, so nothing is published, you have to use keyboard shortcuts which means another payer of abstraction with having to import kewyboard shortcuts etc. for a grid.. :(

Never heard of Metagrid.
I’m mostly a window user with an iMac.
Try this one (you probably know it)

Didn't know it, it doesn't really overlap. Metagrid works with all native keyvboard shortcuts, the Menu thing is new this month and Mac Specific, but you still can get deaper control of Live with Metagrid on Windows, just not the Menu command thing.

The new MIDI tools and functions make Live 12's midi editor incredible. It's even better than FL Studio's piano roll (the only real advantage it had over Live, IMHO).

I thought this was abandoned a long time ago and not compatible with newer Macs. Is it back and being updated again?

I have it on my Mac and last time I used it was probably 2 years ago on Live 10.
It still loads with Live 11 though...

What macOS do you have? I remember trying to install it about one year ago and it have me nothing but trouble.

The Abletons have again impressively demonstrated how it should work and as far as I have noticed if it is really possible to make/edit these new PR tools with M4L this will open the door for tons over tons of useful additions...

This update has convinced me personally to settle on Live for the future...
Adios Bitwig... go your nerd approach but without me...
Adios FL Studio... things will never really change...
Hello Ableton... you did it right for me... :tu:

I'm a long-time Live user and I'll continue to use it.

But this v12 doesn't impress me at all.
