I've always taken the PA artist / producer recommendations seriously... I don't know why? Anyone else have thoughts on this?

A lot of the PA stuff isn't geared at the EDM crowd for a start. Most of it is more studio/engineer focussed, doesn't mean these endorsements are any more or less credible of course.

The only endorsement that truly counts is Wagtunes' approval.

I'm totally cool with this, and will honor their wishes. However, if this is a big deal to them where they are lecturing people about it, then they should clearly state that with the voucher.dermage wrote:Actually not, at least not in the group where I am in. (Plugin Alliance Audiophiles, i think it's more or less the official PA group on FB)mutantdog wrote: If the trading of them on Facebook is proportional to here, there's no doubt a lot of it going on.
But anyway I'm sure they can track voucher usage per account, so it will be obvious if people are using multiple vouchers within a month.
I have not abused their vouchers, but I can see where "personal voucher" is open to interpretation without guidance.

I thought the value of your voucher was related to the amount of $$$ you've spent with PA? If a person has a ton of $25 vouchers via different accounts, then they still win. There's no point in gaming the system.mutantdog wrote: I figured the same value restriction came from people setting up multiple accounts and thus having several $25 vouchers at their disposal. I'm pretty certain i'd only ever spent $9 with PA before they started the voucher thing and i was (and still am) eligible for a $25 code. It might in fact be the case that everyone can get that much just by setting up an account, but even if there is a minimum spend to reach the first tier it is incredibly low. I don't know how much you need to get to the $35 code level but it's probably over $100.
So hypothetically, i could set up 5 accounts with 5 different emails. I could buy bx_tuner with each of them for $5 (while it's on sale) and all of those accounts would be at "paying customer" status. That's 5x $25 vouchers the following month, all for an initial outlay of $25.
Now for someone looking to make a few quid trading vouchers, that seems a pretty safe investment. Or at least it would have been before they started restricting the usage last month

All true, although this discussion went a bit off in a direction that has nothing to do with the library itself. If EDM is your thing, this is actually a very nice library. 7Skies is an absolutely outstanding sound designer and 77$ isn't that expensive for a Kontakt Player library either.
Btw, if a testimonial is supposed to influence the opinion about a product and you are basing your decision to not consider it interesting based on a testimonial, didn't the testimonial serve its purpose then?

pixie.army wrote:Haha - sorry, my sarcasm detection is malfunctioning today. But seriously, I wish composers / producers were more responsible with their recommendations, and not so whorish. A lot of up and coming artists don't have a lot of money to spend, and don't have access to trying out everything on the market, and can therefore rely heavily on the opinions of people in the business. It makes be irrationally angry when I see these dummies hawking every little product, many that they never use, simply to feed their ego by getting their name on more things and horde free stuff. A few film composers I've crossed paths with are insanely guilty of this.ghettosynth wrote:I was totally joking, if that wasn't clear. A Tiestomonial is almost a guarantee that I won't be interested.pixie.army wrote:Ignore testimonials. Lots of high profile guys like Tiesto will endorse a pile of sticks if they get it for free. The whole product testimonial business is a racket. I speak from 1st hand experience.ghettosynth wrote:

On a thematically-related note -- Is the Embertone site down for everybody, or just me? I haven't been able to connect since first try last night.
Did we DDOS them out of existence grabbing for the Ancient Voices freebie?
