Numanoid was ok and a great asset to this thread at one time. Pity some people drove him away with their inflated egos. I tend to use cakewalk deals for hunting bargains these days. I pop into this thread from time to time and generally ignore the posts by a couple of ego maniacs with post counts in their thousands.
When I first started out learning about music production and lurked around on these forums I used to think that some of the people here who always had a lot to say about the top end of this and the bottom end of that, the quality of this vendor or the quality of that vendor a great deal of respect and it drove me try out plugins based on their recommendations because i mistakenly thought these people were experts. After a while though, when my ears got used to frequencies and how to use specific plugins for the task at hand I realized many of these people don't have a clue about what they are talking about so I started ignoring their posts.
TL:DR The recommendations of people here are more often or not useless. Download the plugins, learn how to use them and then make an informed decision with respect to the value of the plugin and whether it will enhance your workflow in relation to the music you produce.

He drove himself away by arguing with mod to a degree that earned him suspension and then simply chose not to come back. You need some practice in recognizing ego, Numanoid was full of it and took offense if you didn't kiss his ass with respect to deal posting. I think that the majority of his posts fell into one of two categories, yawn inducing, or obvious. Now, there's nothing wrong with the obvious deals, we want to see those, but enough of us get those mailers that they pretty much all get posted.greenfly wrote:Numanoid was ok and a great asset to this thread at one time. I don't miss the yawners for the most part and haven't really noticed much of a difference with respect to deals that I actually care about.
AFAIK, he's no longer suspended and can choose to come back at any time, so I don't really get all of this lamenting, he just isn't here and that's just his choice.
Honestly, I wish that posts like yours would dry up and blow away, nobody gives a shit about your butthurt over posters who've been around here longer than you. Nobody ever told you that you should take their recommendations without doing some evaluation of your own.
Now, I'm pretty sure that all of this whining is off topic, this is the thread to chat about bargains, not your butthurt.

If you don't like what I have to say, add me to your foe list, it's easy. You're contributing nothing to this thread and I'll be more than happy to report your future posts like this "one line whine" to help you come to grips with that.greenfly wrote:ghettosynth wrote:He drove himself away by arguing with mod to a degree that earned him suspension and then simply chose not to come back. I've updated the link in the post to have a direct link that does not have any affiliate links. I am not sure how long this deal will last since it has been extended a few times since December as per telecharge.SolarAxix wrote:mutantdog wrote:I really don't want to be the guy that kicks up a fuss about this but the rules on affiliate links were put in place for a reason. Some may remember the free-for-all of Waves links popping up in the main thread a few years back. Please let's not have a repeat of the problem with Magix.
I noticed that what I posted using the Canadian Magix store had affiliate tags in the URL (but they aren't mine since I don't have any with Magix - they were part of the previous Samplitude Pro X3 Suite post). I did try to go directly to the Canadian store to check out the price, but it did not show show Samplitude Pro X3 Suite as being on sale. If there's a way to get the same price without it let me know and I will post the non-affiliate filled URL.
Here's the direct link to get the Magix Samplitude X3 Pro Suite deal for $149 Canadian (~$120 US
plus currency conversion fees) if you don't want to go back to the original post in the deals only thread:

So what are people's thoughts on Mikron Cascade from 112 dB? I'm demoing now and TBH, it doesn't seem like it generates anything that you can't already get with other dense multi-tap delays, of which I have a few and a few of my own creation in Reaktor. Has anyone found some use cases that are on the genuinely unique side?
With the density on low settings it seems predictably chaotic, but not in an interesting way, more like you are experiencing the limitations of the fixed network. On high density settings it creates a useful dense space, but I can get that with so many other delays and reverbs that I'm just not seeing much appeal there either.
So far the most useful effect seems to come from modulating the time parameter while playing a sound into the highly dense network.

I agree. There are a lot of competing products in this space. While the approach is somewhat new/different I can't justify a purchase based on the results. The Factory presets don't showcase anything you couldn't do just by fiddling with it; they're begging for a wacky FX example. But it looks like its strength is in how you automate the parameters. However, it's just not that interesting.ghettosynth wrote:So what are people's thoughts on Mikron Cascade from 112 dB? Automated time, feedback, spin, tone, density: https://clyp.it/kvpnfhng Nothing you can't do with other tools, and with direct intent.
Sandman Pro has half the density/taps and a different topology but is far more exciting, and has the modulation built-in. If you're going for drones, washes, and soundscapes, there's Kaleidoscope, Soundtoys, B2, just to name a few. However, this does make me interested in the synth it came from, which I'll demo when I have more time.

Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

However, this does make me interested in the synth it came from, which I'll demo when I have more time.
The manual from the synth has a bit more detail about the delay networks, but, as near as I can tell it's just four stages of 8 delays summed and fed into the next stage. From reading the manuals it appears that the effect also sums the previous stage's delays, while either the synth does not, or, the manual doesn't reflect that change. The synth does allow you to edit the delay times
The claim to interestingness is that the build up of sound is spread such as to avoid cancellations and additions. As far as I can tell, this is really just about choosing a particular set of delay times. Also, as far as I can tell, the synth is little more than a standard synth fed into this effect. There is something with the pre-render, I'll have to demo that to see what it's all about. Also, you have the ability to edit the delay times.
I think that for the effect variant to be able to create interesting effects that it would need more built in modulation abilities, like Sandman Pro, in fact.

Well said. A number of deals were quite unique, sometimes including single use coupon codes. Those guys were great for finding the odd one out. You only had to look closely.Armadillo wrote:Regardless of whether or not some of the deals that Numanoid posted were Zero-G/shareware or other plugins that I have no interest in, the fact is, that he posted more deals than anyone else.
The only other person I've seen post anywhere near as many deals is GreyLion. And Hans25 a little while back.
So yeah, I miss him posting deals

Audioplugin.deals has opened a shop now!
https://audioplugin.deals/shop-2/
Pretty interesting! A lot of what they sell in the shop are products they previously had deals on, but there's other stuff in there as well, I think. And they've announced that they will add new products daily. If you've bought any of their specials before, you're likely to have a reward sum in your account already. Log in to find out.

Wow, this is kind of cool in that I have $98 in rewards points. It looks like the old deals are there but not as good, which makes sense. Like for instance the Kirk Hunter Ensemble is worth $299, bargain price you might have missed was $89.99 and current price is $179.99. Great deal? Probably not, but a decent deal if it is something you are interested in and missed.pekadan wrote:(Sorry if this has already been posted).
