Just to make that crystal clear: I didn't get it at first that this pic has anything to do with the holocaust. I thought it was some poorly shot photography with a (with photoshop or similar) added tattoo on the arm. That's it what I meant when I wrote that I didn't get it.

And again: I think there are few "jokes" that are worse in my eyes than this one.

I agree with what you say....and it is not a joking matter...but who amougst us hadn't thought something eas funny in our heads and making a bad joke. Myself I know I have, I also know I've bumped heads with captgone and have had many more good conversations with him...enough so I'm not patronizing him, but he has my respect...and enough respect to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that was just a lapse of judgement...

I was not trying to judge cptgone, I really know nothing of him. But I just had to react to what he did, fearing it was going unnoticed, and fight indifference. Somehow, as I explained, it's when such things go unnoticed that the harm is done (not just by the unappropriate reference itself).

cptgone, I hope you'll remove the picture too. I think well of you but IMO it's far too strong an image for a statement about copy protection. I've seen tattoos much like that on people who were close to me.

I ignored it because I just didn't get the link. If it was supposed to be saying something about dongles, I did not make the connection.

I knew instantly that it was something to do with the holocaust, I just ignored it because I know I've done shitty things in the past because I thought it was funny.

Righty then -- meanwhile, back at the topic: Does anyone else besides me plan to use AT2 on synthesized/sampled guitar (or whatever)? Anyone had decent results this way? Or is this a stupid idea? (I have lots of those.)

Thanks Fritz. That means a lot. I don't wish any ill will to anyone. Sure, when I post about stuff I like there is a benefit for me sometimes if people buy from our store of if Sonic Reality was involved, but I think most people here know about my affiliations (which are not even just with IK but also Propellerheads, Yamaha and also NI- did you know we did most of the sounds in Bandstand? We also did the famous surround sound Cathedral Organ in Kontakt 2 library).

So, while I simply love B4, Reaktor, Absynth, Kontakt, Battery 2, Spektral Delay, Bandstand, Vokator, Pro53 (although I prefer the SSM filter to be modeled)... but since GR2 is the most directly comparable to AT2 I personally prefer AT2. Not just because for me it is free!

I know that for myself and almost every musician I know (and I know quite a lot of them) that AmpliTube 2 is a no-brainer purchase. Of course, a lot of guys I know drop some serious dough on Matchless, vintage amps etc. not to mention TDM plug-ins and UAD cards so relatively speaking AmpliTube 2 is worth having as a potential toolkit of DSP for the price. For that matter, as I said, if one finds particular things in GR2 or the Waves then as long as it is affordable then why not have those too? I haven't found anything for myself that is a must-have in those. But, in AmpliTube 2 (I admit I have spent the most time with so I know it well) I have found things that I would not want to be without.

So, yes, that excitement gives me the energy to talk about it and I do it in case people want to know my perspective. Maybe I can share an inside view or something. I try to be helpful in this community. Sure, I gain something but I always try to give back and I don't intend to hurt or attack anyone. It is not my style (even though it can be tempting if someone attacks me... you could see my restraint! But I am glad because it led to a more peaceful exchange so as it turns out that must be the right way).

Best of luck to you and your music. Maybe you will even appreciate AmpliTube 2 yourself when you get to try it. If people keep an open mind you never know. I find AmpliTube 2 hard not to like. But, it is always a matter of taste with these things. So, it is REALLY hard to say what is better than another. There is mostly just our opinions. It is interesting to hear!

I know I do a lot of "talk" (okay, "hype"

). For those that know and trust me it is fun and exciting. For those that are maybe skeptical it warrants one of these

I know, I know. I am all for substance in a discussion. I have just been slammed for NAMM and a few other things. However, as soon as I can I want to post some things I have been doing with AmpliTube 2. Pretty cool! I think some of you Zep fans may like it (ran a Jimmy Page Les Paul through it...hehe).
