I've got Komplete, but that free Komplete Start bundle is excellent for someone who's new to N.I.

Two clicks to load preset and close browser

Only problem is being able to browse using the QWERTY arrow keys is not working
So you still can't switch presets with the arrow keys without hitting enter each time? :x
No you can't switch presets using the arrow keys

Echoes in the Attic wrote: Thu Jul 17, 2025 11:55 pm Massive X Player view I bet will be like one of those Kontakt NKS libraries with a nice big picture covering most of the space (perhaps of a keyboard with too many black or white keys) and then two pages of 8 big macro knobs. Because that will be way easier than finding those darned 16 macros in the synth UI!
It's going to be more than that. :)
hahahaha. The only difference from my guess is that there is automation on the pretty picture. Oh and did they even bother having two pages of 8 big knobs, or only give us 8 of the macros?

And the edit page, I guess it hasn’t changed eh?
Brutal, these guys have given up.

Player page still too difficult. I want one knob and I want it to move randomly so I don’t have to assign movement. They’ll get there.

Haven't installed it yet. Do I understand correctly that the light mode theme has been removed?
I hate signatures too.

And only the player with 60 presets.

I'd say that's still worth grabbing if people don't have massive X.

Post

ah, sorry...the email from NI just said "free Massive X," not some "player" version...what on Earth is that, some scaled down version? (Note: if it just means less presets, IMO BFD)

That price is a joke...I got Massive, Absynth, and FM8 all for $50 a year or so ago, and based on what I'm hearing from people who had both, it's debatable which is better between Massive and Massive X.

I guess if you can buy sound packs for the free version, and you're not into doing your own sound design, that's a good deal. Massive X is one of the better quality instruments out there.

massive x player comes with a free extra soundbank; so, more than 60 sounds.

i have uninstalled the full MX...twice, from my setup. i find it interesting, yet never actually use it. still, i hope the 1.6 update brings a usable browser to the table...

The player reminds me of molekular.
I like that they fixed the annoying spacebar bug, that would switch presets and wavetables instead of start/stop transport.
Hope they keep upgrading the synth.

It'll be 2 years in October since they shipped controllers with polyphonic aftertouch and have done nothing to make their software support it.

Guitar Rig has this too, extremely annoying.

Reminds you of Molekular in what sense?
