8th track from my upcoming CD "RPM II"

Lyrics written by Rocky Lavine. I traditionally have a difficult time writing for other people's lyrics. This was no exception. Additionally, this was a real bitch to sing. Definitely needs a professional singer to pull this one off.

Quarantine

intro (like Shakespeare, spoken to music)
The little town of Avery
where everyone knew everyone
shut down during the plague
now vaccine awakened like a flower in the sun

verse
We felt the sun upon our skin
the laughter broke over the din
no one kept to their distancing
hugs on display for witnessing

On the square local musicians
played in joy without permission
Folks danced and none protested
none was going to be arrested

chorus
two fearful girls with a love unseen
kept too long apart by quarantine
wondered if the talk on the phone was true
neither knew the other thought the same thing too

They raced embraced by ancient stream
enmeshed so hard it made them scream
each others name in true delight
erasing all their phobic fright

chorus

They walked hand in hand to the square
they were met with smiles everywhere
two girls in love since the playpen
had lived the why and only kissed the when

chorus

out
Let it out let it love let it out let it love let it out let it love

9th track from my upcoming CD "RPM II"

Everything Is Better

Everything is better with you in it
You make it all so grand
Everything is better with you in it
I just have to hold your hand
Sugar plumbs and fairies
Sing just like canaries
Gum drops and ice cream too
Everything is better with you in it
Everything is better with you

Everything is better with you in it
You are the crème de la crème
Everything is better with you in it
You are the ultimate fem
Marble cake and brownies
Silky smooth like Downy
Waffles and pancakes too
Everything is better with you in it
Everything is better with you

I've had all the rest
Now I have the best
You just can't be beat
Sweetest of the sweet

Instrumental Break

Everything is better with you in it
I've found my perfect girl
Everything is better with you in it
You're the greatest in the world
Cherry Coke and Ring Dings
All the very best things
Perfect and so true blue
Everything is better
In all kinds of weather
Everything is better with you

Hi Wags. Listened to Quarantine. I like it, there is a nice vibe to it. Vocals are pretty good. Bravo on going for those higher notes.
Well done. :)
Bandcamp
Music with progressive intent.

Song was a bitch to sing. Really needs someone who can actually sing to tackle that one.

10th track from my upcoming CD "RPM II"

I was actually asked to do this one and might be earning something for my efforts. Was a blast to do. The lead guitar part took me forever to get just right.

A Pirate's Life

Got a ship to sail the sea
It's a life just right for me
With a yo ho ho
Away I go
There's no better way to be

Got me mates to tag along
As we sing a pirate's song
With a bottle of rum
It's all for one
Ain't nuthin' can go wrong

A pirate's life is the only life
The only one I know
A pirate's life you know it's right
So all the world I'll show
A pirate's life is the only life
Cause pirate's never cry
A pirate's life is the only life
I'll live it till I die

Rap Section:

Aye matey
Come aboard me ship and I'll make a man out of yuh
We'll sail the seven seas in search of buried treasure
And if anyone tries to stop us
We'll make 'em walk the plank
Argggh matey
We'll make 'em walk the plank

Instrumental Break

Repeat Verse 1

Repeat Chorus

A sea shanty, with a British accent to boot (one of our accents - we have dozens of regional accents!)
Well done. Radio-band EQ on vocals works really well I think when there's enough instrumentation underneath to fill in the low/low mids.
Alaways appreciate a good guitar solo!

Thanks. I really enjoyed doing this one. Might even make me a few bucks if the customer likes it.

great pirate track! this would be something excellent to hear at a bar every time last call is made. ha.
of the tracks i've listened to from you, your voice sorta reminds me of david bowie a bit, man! for instance, at the 2:38 mark on pirate's life.

LOL. Thanks. I wasn't going for Bowie but I'll take it. Yeah, I really made sure I did a decent job on this one as it was for somebody. Hope they like it.

11th track from my upcoming CD "RPM II"

In another attempt to stretch myself as a writer, a little Nu Metal on this one.

Battered By Gray Nights

Darkness around me
I cannot see
Evil confounds me
Won't let me be

Terror and bloodshed
The walls have ears
Sheer Paranoia
Explains my fears

Battered by gray nights
Blasted with bright lights
Voices in my head
Wishing I was dead

Demons are lurking
Ready to take my soul
Witches and warlocks
Bury me in a hole

Hope for a glimmer
That I can be saved
Look into my eyes
Nightmares they gave

Repeat Chorus

Instrumental Break

Repeat Verse 3

Repeat Chorus

battered has that numetal feel for sure.
not really something i liked tbh, old school :band2:

id have liked the vocals a bit more upfront, and maybe a bit more aggressive. would have made it perfect really. you going for an accent again? theres some words that dont quite match your usual accent (could just be me...)

I've had a lot of nice comments on this one, including the guy who contracted it. Glad you liked it.

I don't expect this one to be everybody's cup of tea. The vocals were tough to do. I put Decapitator on them, which helped a little, but they're still not quite metal vocals. Don't want to rip up my throat and don't really know how to do metal vocals. Some of these guys are amazing with what they can get their voices to do.

As I said, trying to stretch myself so I'm not doing the same thing all the time. If you don't take chances, you don't grow.

Anyway, thanks for the listen on both and the feedback. Much appreciated.
