wow...this is a grand dust up! i have to add my piece: basically, out of sx3, fls6, live 5, e-xt, acid 5, project5 2.0, reason 3, and kinetic; i use reason 3 and kinetic the least and fls6 and live 5 the most. reason (mind the pun): fls6 and live 5 give me the least problems with vst instruments...i mean, i can just download a freebie and boot up either 'host' (with a scan) and there's my freebie ready to go (and i must add, with more controls on display than sx3 provides...especially for stylus rmx!) even when the freebie has problems, live and fls don't often choke in such a way as to bring down my whole system...booth also let me use wav files as well. now...reason 3 doesn't allow any of this...of course, it avoids problems with errant vsti's this way and so, is fairly reliable...in fact i'd call it 'old reliable'

the way i use reason is to go into it every once in a while and make some sounds, render unto wav, and go back to my most used hosts to do work (or play) with them...oh, reason's midi interface is particularly irksome...

Oh yeah... BTW, I think that the term is ""add my peace" not "add my piece".
