Massive has harsh wavetables(almost all), Largo not. It covers much more in sound design. Anyway, Massive is very very good synth as well. So for me it was hard to choose which one to get. Largo was better on CPU, so it won.

I'm used to this kind of comments. It seems to be a basic need of VSTI users to express their disappointment about presets, though nobody uses themaMUSEd wrote:Surely it does? I've seen a number of professional sound designers mentioned who made presets for it (inc DocT who is pretty much an expert on the Waldorf synths)chicken muffin wrote:and very very dumb of waldorf (or any synth developer to not include professionly presets)
I haven't seen a release of a synth in the last years where the presets didn't suck. It doesn't matter who programmed them, it doesn't matter how many are included, they basically suck and everybody does better than these dumb factory sound programmers
Problem is that you scarcely see all those better sounds, they seem to be so good that nobody wants to give them to the public.
So, in case of Largo, my special praise goes to Ingonator who programmed and published a big pack of good and different sounds soon after the release.

I intended to create this very common sound, to show how nice it sounds with beautiful low freq. Actually FAT for me means thick and wide spreaded sound. And yes, it was detuned too much and it wasn't thick. Anyway, no one softsynth can give this quality and analog vibe and mostly this POWERFUL sound it gives. Others "Top" synths it's just suck in this. Envelpes are unbelievable fast and sharp and the best quality i ever heard.bmanic wrote:No offence Igro but that sounds pretty horrible.. and why on earth do you call it "sync" saw? There's no oscillator sync going on there, at least not in the typical manner. The resonance does sound pretty nice and the filter in itself but your example is just horribly much detuned and very common sounding, imho. Would be very hard to use that sound in any context due to it's large detune.Igro wrote:totally no.keel wrote:You kidding me, right?Igro wrote:Just simple audio sample of sync saw, usnison and delay:

Sounds massive. I love Largo.
If "completely and utterly detuned" means fat for you then so be it.. to me it only means horribly out of tune.
Cheers!

Largo in spanish means literally "length", not "long". I think they are refering to the italian word. Anyway also the name is not so original after allstandalone wrote:Largo is the spanish word for "long" .MaxSynths wrote:Largo is an italian word and I'm from Italy. But "largo" is "lenght" when used as a noun . It's "long" when used as an adjetive .
And there is nothing wrong in liking it or not . It has a very peculiar sound and I guess it's not for everyone's taste .
