Detuned presets, so it must sound "analog" is the new "louder/brighter, so it must sound better."

Post

Seems like this thread went viral with replies.

Same here. Sounds digital.
I've downloaded Diva just to fill my curiosity (i dont like Cave-man synths, and i dont use them) and it sounds better then newborn NI child.
So there it is - Digital Synth enthusiast objective opinion.

Hehehe, I guess they got what they wanted: Everyone talks about Monark ;)

With some luck it'll turn once it gets out: Maybe every NI forum/thread will be about Diva then.

Just doing a sanity check here: all of these edumacated replies are about the audio demos, right? No one here has actually played/programmed/worked with Monark, right?

Well, if that's the case, then I'd like to join in: I haven't heard the audio demos yet, but man that synth sounds dope! Awsum NI, you rool!

Post

*nvm*

Yup, that's true. Yet they would certainly post audio demos with sounds that beared resemblance to sounds made with a Minimoog, don't you think? Wouldn't anything else be in contradiction to the statements within the marketing campaign?

Yes, of course. It's just that I have the experience of disliking so many synths based on the demos, and then completely switching my opinion once I tried them out myself. Maybe the ones responsible for those audio demos did a really really poor job with lots of post-processing and enhancing. Or maybe they mixed up their Massive 2 files with their Monark files. :hihi:

+1
Typical sandy NI sound in my opinion.

And then it's a >MONO< VSTi-synth (LOOOOOL, ROFL, xD  :D  :?:  ... sorry, just can't stop laughing about that :) ) with rather limited options.

dont you just love confirmation bias.
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

Post

Well ... I had that opinion already a few sites ago.

Just listen to their audio demos.
It's a bad joke.

I totally understand it, when people feel insulted by the marketing of that thing.
Making it mono is just that by the way:
An idiotic marketing move.

More likely a limitation of Reaktor - a polyphonic version would be far too cpu intensive.

OTOH, a couple of Intel family iterations down the road, and version of Reaktor 6 with, say multicore 'Core2' JIT compiler and who knows... maybe a Monark2 will released which is polyphonic.

But no. Better for NI not to bring it out than to do so but make it mono.
