glokraw wrote: Sat Oct 25, 2025 11:49 pm It's not the fun and respect aspects of discord that keep me away. Your efforts in those areas are likely excellent, per the team track record, but some things will remain beyond your control, and cost you a few potential user numbers. Just putting downloads in some easy-access location would be nice.
Cheers
The downloads aren’t on discord. Just the day to day conversation about the project. The downloads are on our GitHub. With a stable URL and no login required. Not sure what constitutes easy access beyond that for a project at this stage (vs at a stable release stage like surge where we have a full content website and automatically update links and tag stable releases). But always interested in ideas
Maybe post that link in this thread each time there's an update...
There were 20 updates since nov 1.

And afaic there’s no kvr forum api

But if someone has a script which can update a kvr thread I can add it to our build stage although I don’t think folks want that

Great suggestion, Evil! Especially since GitHub already has those :)

https://github.com/surge-synthesizer/sh ... eases.atom

that's the RSS feed which updates on release. At current it will show an update event when we push.

https://github.com/surge-synthesizer/sh ... mmits.atom

That's the RSS feed which shows changes to the synth with the change log.

This is valid for each last minute update:

If you access Discord you can participate & suggest points, or you can stick to Github (you need a free account on Github) to report & comment issues.

I have a feature request, can you guys please turn on Github Sponsors: https://github.com/open-source/sponsors for Surge Team so we can show some appreciate for your work?

Post

Surge Synth Team has always operated and always will operate without any sort of donations!

Post

It's not a donation! It's an unsolicited payment for goods or services. Let me spend some money dammit!

Post

You can name it however you want, but SST does not want any of it. :)

Post

You have no future as a CFO :)

Post

Perhaps SST can recommend a charity in lieu of taking monies?
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

Post

Yeah as ED said we'll never take any money (works better for us that way). Recommending charities is a good thought, but a recommendation would constitute a (more or less explicit) political statement. And we are also not in the business of making those.

So if you wish to donate to a charity, do so to one of your choosing, and know we appreciate it. There is certainly much suffering in the world and many good people working to alleviate it who need that support more than we do.
