They are in your content folder which is either C:\reFX\VANGUARD library\Skins or /Library/Audio/Presets/reFX/VANGUARD library/Skins by default.

The are .json (with comments) files. If you edit the currently loaded skin they hot reload so you can see your changes in real time. The colour names are kinda based on CSS. If you do any editing, copy the file first or the cloud app with overwrite your changes.

Sorry I should have said I'm on windows. Are there no .png or .bmp files that can be edited?

How would someone (with more skills than I have) create and share a completely new skin?

I've edited the skins of all the plugins I own that expose skin files to the end user so it wouldn't be anything new to me.

The background can be a png. But all the colours of knobs, text, etc are specified in the json file.

To do a new skin, find the folder named C:\reFX\VANGUARD library\Skins\Classic. Copy that folder and rename it MySkin. Edit the background.png however you want. Change the colours in skin.json. Zip up the folder and give it to people. They put the zip file in their skins folder and it should just work.

Ok thanks, I see the Skin folder now (on the D:\ drive here). It was created today when I updated to 2.0.2 or at least that's the date on the folder. I don't remember seeing it there before and I looked several times.

So I got it now but I see only the background is a .png which is cool. Some skins have hundreds of individual files that need to be edited.

I've got some time before the games come on today so I'll see if I can knock out a quick edit. I'll post it here if I come up with anything worth seeing. :tu:

wangeroge wrote: Fri Nov 25, 2022 1:52 am I think the sound is great and for a Nexus user it feels home immediately, because parts like the preset browser are the same.

But I have a problem. When I double click on a preset in the preset browser, sometimes the sound is different. For example it only activates one oszillator instead of three. When I double click on the same preset name ten times at least once the sound is wrong. Can somebody corfirm this? I'm on macOS (Intel).

I already tried to contact support, but that didn't help. They couldn't reproduce the problem.
I've noticed just clicking through patches that several sound like a single init saw despite having an official name in the list (that is being an official preset). various banks. Almost like it isn't really loading the real sound fully on these events.
Yes, nice! That's it. So I'm not the only one. Which platform are you on? Cubase + Windows, right?
Yep Cubase 12 Pro on Windows 10 Home.

I played with it a little more today and clicking on a preset name in the preset screen multiple times sometimes loads a different sound. Meaning sometimes it loads the single saw sound but sometimes it loads something that sounds different. If I keep clicking on that preset name it will eventually load what I think is the intended sound. But it can take several clicks to get the sound correct. At least on the presets that are behaving in this manner (where the first click loads a single init saw buzz).

Well that was easy. Here's an orange version for people who don't like green. Hopefully it is allowed to post an edit. If not let me know and I will delete the post.

It's taking quite a bit to get used to the "single click preview, double click load patch" method.

I like the functionality since a double click is just a muscle twitch more than a single click and being able to preview patches, even your own, is nice.

Do you have any patches I could try to load to see if I get the same thing you're getting?

On the subject of the installation path, I don't know how others feel but I'd rather developers not drop folders on the root of a drive. I have hundreds of plugins from dozens of developers so if they all start doing this it would get pretty messy.

I prefer in the Documents folder (again on Windows) or Program Data folders.

I know we can change file paths in the ReFx Cloud app but I only see the option to move the Library folders to a particular drive letter but not to sub-folders on that drive.

Perhaps I'm missing it but that's the way it appears to be here.

No, it's random on when it occurs and can occur on any patch it seems.

Some of y'all are brutal!
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

As the OG KVR’ers would always ask back in the day:

If you say so... ;)

You forgot the 2 new filter types though. And, there are 136 new presets, not 100. And there's a new preset browser. And a vector based GUI. And there's a new distortion and a new delay type. And all the other stuff you can read about in new features.
