Well, imagine you can now basically probably do completely "live" ambient KS pieces with many more instances than previously... if you could get 15 or 16 of that test preset perviously, 30-40 real-world instances should likely be possible on your (and my) machine now... plus some B2s. Ambient heaven.
Yummie, sounds promising :tu:

that all sounds like positive things.. looking forward to the new version whenever it hits the streets. i expect it'll greatly improve my user experience.

The 1.1 update crashes Cubase 8.5. I can't even use the blacklist workaround.

Hi Andrew,

I ve just installed the beta version on my system.Although it seems to have updated correctly, i cannot use the update :

- on ableton live (9.6 x64 version), the message is "this vst cannot be loaded on this system"
- on cubase elements 8 (x64), it crashes @ scanning the dll

i have checked that the audplg64.dll file is the new one, and for the dll in VST folder i m using

my config is : windows 8.1 x64 with intel i7 750 (this one hasn't got the AVX extension, is it related ? i remember a problem on a beta of B2 ....)

Thx !

PS : i will be out for the week end, i won't be able to test before sunday night

Almost forgot, the install did not touch my user presets. You were ok on that part.

I can't wait for the OSX version. I'm really enjoying getting into Kscope lately.

Hi Andrew,

New version installed fine on Win8.1, keeping my presets intact.

Haven't had a chance to play with the new features yet but will hopefully get an opportunity over the weekend.

Just to be a miser though, I *did* notice that the Bitwig all-settings-reverting-to-zero bug is still there. Denis replied to a support ticket a while ago saying he'd look into it, and unfortunately I've heard nothing from the Bitwig guys regarding the last ticket I raised with them.

Any chance of an update on that one? No idea whether it lies your side or theirs (though I don't have that issue with any of my other VSTs), but it makes using Kaleidoscope a little stressful! Still affects certain parameters on B2/Breeze as well (mainly EQ/damping parameters, from what I recall).

Not to rain on the (beta) release parade though! Can't wait to have a play around at the weekend with the new mod features.

OS? CPU?

Latest 8.5.x?

Yes, actually I should have mentioned that. This version of KS requires a CPU with AVX instructions.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_ ... Extensions

That includes:
Sandy Bridge processor, Q1 2011
Sandy Bridge E processor, Q4 2011
Ivy Bridge processor, Q1 2012
Ivy Bridge E processor, Q3 2013
Haswell processor, Q2 2013
Haswell E processor, Q3 2014
Broadwell processor, Q4 2014
Broadwell E processor, expected in 2016
Skylake processor, Q3 2015
Kaby Lake processor, expected in 2016
Cannonlake processor, expected in 2017
Performance is even better on CPUs that have AVX 2.0:
Haswell processor, Q2 2013
Haswell E processor, Q3 2014
Broadwell processor, Q4 2014
Broadwell E processor, expected in 2016
Skylake processor, Q3 2015
Kaby Lake processor, expected in 2016
Cannonlake processor, expected in 2017
(this is why Denis's 6700K can compete surprisingly well with my 12-Core Xeon Mac Pro (AVX 2.0 vs AVX 1.0).)

And performance will be even better still with "AVX 512" when available next year or so.

We can/will offer a special version that does not use AVX for customers who need it. (but you will not see the maximum performance benefit...)

My mid 2010 iMac is still doing fine, but it looks like I'm out of luck now...

Why? We will provide a version that works with SSE also. You will still see lots of benefits. Not all of the speedup is from AVX etc. A larger part of it is from other things we did.

But simply SSE is not as fast as AVX and AVX is not as fast as AVX 2, and AVX 2 is not as fast as AVX 512, etc. As things go in technology.... the latest and greatest is always the absolute fastest... if it were not, no one would buy it... but even I do not have an AVX 2.0 CPU at the moment, and as mentioned I still see massive speedups...

I have a 6700K so looking forward to seeing this!
