Pretty damn cheap in my world, where I've happily paid $3k for a compressor I can only use on one channel at a time.Harry_HH wrote:$ 209 is a huge amount of money of one compressor.

Listened to a run through of GPO and remembered why I haven't bought it yet. Most of the orchestral instruments sound synthetic to me. But it does have some good other instruments like a celesta and harp. And the organs sound good. Wondering if it is worth the half off price? Does anyone actually use it?

GPO was designed to be a budget orchestra instead of competing with VSL or EW. I like it that it can be quick to use. There are people who can make it sound good.JerGoertz wrote:GPO worth getting at $74? I remember the older version(s) were criticized for their instrument quality, not sure about v5.

Which small Genelecs do you have now? I was going to put them in my list at 3rd yesterday but thought my post would be too long. They're also excellent depending on model. I actually prefer the older ones with the two vertical front ports and the metal waveguides. 1031As if I remember correctly.but I´m looking at the Genelec AWM series with integrated measurement options now... not sure whether that would be plenty better than my current small Genelecs with Sonarworks correction though...
If you have Genelecs though, you're already in good stead. Especially with Sonarworks correction going on. I'd just get a pair of auratones or a single one at least for A/Bing. I haven't heard the new Genelecs with DSP, so can't say.
I have heard the new Sceptre's by Presonus and was blown away by them. Their staging is incredible. Bass response was also tight! The center alignment design is incredible and they are the first to truly figure it out I believe. Even with a horn type waveguide, the DSP is really very well done. My friend bought the Sceptre 8s and they sound incredible. I'd probably get the 6. Best value on the market right now price to SQ.
Edit: And he had Sonarworks loaded on them and his room is not balanced at all. I was very impressed by how well they performed with just Sonarworks even with his positioning in the room being off to one side and the room is not deep. They were very usable surprisingly even with all the room limitations and poor positioning. It tamed them well. I think their name is more of a limiting factor (presonus) than anything as the design is 1st tier. In fact better than 9/10 on the market. But people still have an association for now. I think these will begin to take over as more people hear them in person. They'll floor you.

I'm actually kinda faunching for Solid State Symphony. Requires no skills whatsoever. I suppose I should be ashamed to mention it in this group.

I like Solid State Symphony. It was one of the first I bought. And I'm sure I got it on sale. If nothing else, it is cool the way the instruments light up when they play.GreyLion wrote:I'm actually kinda faunching for Solid State Symphony. Requires no skills whatsoever.
