So can I use this to run any Windows plugin on a Mac or do I need the hardware unit too?

I don't know about *any* Windows plugin, but that is how it could be done with OPX.

Just to make sure: my question was regarding V-Machine as a standalone device i.e. completely onm its own (MIDI-controller aside)
Are you saying, feedback between a DAW and the VMachine? I've never tried it with a DAW, but maybe someone else has. It only has a din port for midi in, so in/out would require usb.

No, I meant feedback between a MIDI controller and v-Machine without the use of any computer.

* Parameter Feedback. The V-Machine's parameter feedback can be turned on or off. Parameter feedback is especially useful when using external motorized MIDI controllers, or controllers whose knobs are ringed by lighted LEDs. Motorized faders and LED-encoded pots need to update to the correct positions when Presets are changed on the V-Machine. For this function to work, you'll need to do three things. First, you'll need to be using a controller that has motorized faders or LED-ringed knobs, so that it can respond to the V-Machine's MIDI output. Second, this controller will need to be connected to the V-Machine using USB, because the V-Machine's MIDI output is sent via USB. Third, you'll need to use the V-Machine's MIDI Learn feature (see section 3.7.3, page 38 to create a linkage between specific parameters and specific controller messages). Once the linkages have been created and saved to the Preset, each time the Preset is loaded, the values of the linked parameters will be sent to the V-Machine's USB MIDI output. Assuming your hardware controller's knobs and faders respond to the

Thanks! :D (didn't think of that )

I just managed to install and play ImageLine Harmor on my Mac using this - the downside is if the gui is open it seems to take forever to change patches but if you close the gui and use the generic one it plays fine

Whatever the manual says: here parameter feedback does NOT work AT ALL (which is a major bummer for me).

Also my controller is only recognized on the USB port when I'm using a dedicated USB MIDI adapter on its MIDI output, but not when I'm using the controller's USB port... odd but true.

:-?

I can't believe this stuff!!! Why do I have to click 'load' every time I switch to a different preset? The manual does not mention this - instead it makes it appear as if the plugins would be loaded automatically... how am I supposed to use this thing live?

Post

You can set V-Machine to use program changes for switching between the presets. Program changes can change either V-Machine's presets, or plugin's own presets (if the plugin supports program changes).

Here that always switches to 'Plugin Parade'... :-?

Oddly enough in the rehearsal room it werked now ... (still no parameter feedback though and no recognition of USB-to-USB)
