Shouldn't the outsider of the compo decide on the synth? I can't quite keep the track on what's going on it the thread :D I'd got some synths on my mind recently but can't remember them now  (Atlantis was one of the suggestions though). Pterosaur? Voyager? SoHa Sonata? Black-ish vintage thingy from the dev compo2009? ARRRGH  Gotta dig thru my overgrown VST folder

Oh yeah, we did discuss that last place chooses the synth idea ... just one little problem though .... by the time we finish voting for this comp, we will be two weeks into the Synth1 comp, and therefore only about two weeks away from the launch of the march comp .... this doesn't allow for any time in testing to ensure the chosen synth is gonna work for the majority of users,
... so I suggest we go for this idea, but the last placed entrants' chosen synth is the one for the April comp, and the Feb winner choses for May etc ... that way we have plenty of notice of what's to be used, and plenty time to make sure that the chosen synth will work out ... if not, then the last placed guy can choose an alternative.

So, if we accept that arrangement, we still have to decide whats for the March comp .... and cheers for the suggestions Nahkronoth :)

I would like an FM synth for the March compo.
I want to learn to use FM more and this would be a great way to force me to do it. :D

Also thanks for the comments blitz. 8)

Some of the b.serrano synths have FM - I'm thinking hybrids like Adonis and Adonis-Pro. They're not on Tattie's list though. :-o

Also, they're shiny.

Cheers for the nice comments. :)

I said to myself when I joined this series that I would never interfere with your privelege as organizer to select instruments or complain about them, but then I promptly did both.. :P

I understand there are different reasons for people's choice of synth, some to learn new technology, other the challenge of squeezing much out of little etc, mine is more egotisitical; I want the (imo) best sounding synths with the most features to help my tracks and is easy to work with, but then I got my wish with Synth1 didn't I.. ;)

Imo (here I go again), maybe an idea would be to have vote for synths as we do entries? If so, put one vote down on Voyager..

Gotta dash off an do shit for about an hour, if anyones around, here's a summary of the topical stuff at the moment......

Need synth suggestions for march comp... and feedback re ideas submitted above.

Link to Rogue preset folder above ... would be nice if we could get a collection in view of the great sounds in those comp tracks.

Still about 9 and a half hours left for submissions.

Still awaiting some knights in shining armour to donate prizes for next comp.

Aberdeen FC sign 2 decent players, ship out 4 primadonnas, and make £500k into the bargain ... err .... sorry, wrong forum! :hihi:

Will do. Already have all the songs on the player on my phone and gone through them a fair number of times already. Must say there are some real gems entered, will be very hard to choose the top spot (and lower for that matter).

Has Polyiblit been done??? :?

Been looking through this myself, and all I could find in the freeware world was Slim Slow Slider's Side Chain Compressor, which works good but is finicky with the levels imo.
Is this any good?
Or this one : http://www.kvraudio.com/get/2670.html
What's weird is that on the Reaper site, they say VST about the Reaplugs - even in the link itself - and then it turns out they are standalones. Bizarre.
