The thing which completely puts me off Hackintosh's is the lack of official support when you have a problem. And tbh, it seems illogical to me to support a company i dislike with using their software, especially as the last available version of the software is still usable on the other OS. But then, each to his own. At the very least, you have to purchase the OS when building a Hackintosh.BBFG# wrote:Apple used to have two music divisions, both were regular customers of mine.chk071 wrote:So, do i get this right? You hate Apple with everything you got, and criticize everything they are, and want to build a Hackintosh, to use their products?? Man, that's some twisted "Logic".BBFG# wrote: Can't support their pricing and manufacturing philosophy at all though.
Probably time to start building my first (W)Hackintosh I suppose.
I don't hate THEM, I hate some of the things they do. And most of that has to do with their sweat-shop manufacturing and pricing the bottom end components at top end prices. I do have a great distaste for their new niche market though. But that is just the state of our dystopic society. If it weren't for the fact that there are still real artists and musicians to remind me of their historic importance, I would right them off completely.
Software, good. Manufacturing and sales, not so much.
Hackintosh seems to be the logical way of using the one while reducing the support for the other.

There are nice beaches on the Mediterranean and Black Sea too. I think he don`t need to go so far away.Tricky-Loops wrote:In my mind I see Bülent with some big cash relaxing on an island in the Caribbean Sea while Apple works on AppleMaster!![]()

I didn't go through all of them, but my 1st impression is that the Apple patches sound "chunkier" overall - emphasizing more beefy analog-ish tones than the sparkly additive/granular fairydust candyfloss Alchemy does so well.StickyWicket wrote:How are the 3000 patches from Logic compared to Camel's libraries?
Generally speaking, what are your impressions?
Slightly annoying - pretty much every Apple patch has aftertouch mapped by default...this is usually a great thing (u-he synth presets by Howard Scarr come to mind)...but the default modulation amount is WAY over the top for pitch or LFO modulation on a controller with sensitive polyphonic aftertouch like my CME X-Key. Never been a problem with other synths...I suppose I could adjust the sensitivity for use with Alchemy, or apply some kind of MIDI filter if there's no simple way to override.
More annoying - the "Tuning" dropdown in the Master section that allowed loading Scala microtuning files is gone! Maybe it got moved elsewhere (haven't RTFM yet).

Yes, this causes me a bit of dissonance too. However, I've found the store front Apple Genius to be a total lack of support anyway. (The same is true for "Best Buy" Geeks). Everytime I've dealt with them in the past, I've had to teach them what they don't know and get no help at all from them. Calling them 'support' has been a misnomer at best in every way. They depend on mass market ignorance to be just ahead of that curve and no more. I can't blame Apple for that though. Until the base becomes cognizant, the company has no need to step up. The production of software follows a different philosophy than the hardware. Doesn't mean I will buy them, just means there are things to consider without overgeneralizing them into being completely evil.chk071 wrote: The thing which completely puts me off Hackintosh's is the lack of official support when you have a problem. Now PACE, that's completely evil.

I think they should have waited for Logic XI to release it, thereby making it a paid upgrade for everyone.

I guess that's because Logic has the ability to microtune its own instruments built into the host (you can load Scala files in preferences). Only downside is this is per project, not per patch, as it was in Alchemy.Winstontaneous wrote:

Thinking about it, this is just the latest rip off in a long list
When they wanted a name for their computer, they ripped-off Beatles label
Then ripping of Xerox Park for a graphical interface
Then ripping off Carl Sagan, who wisely sued.
The ripping off eMagic for Logic
and ending up in 2015 by ripping of Alchemy

MacBooks have integrated SSD (solid state "hard drive") and upgrading the capacity costs a lot of money, so we all know that SSD space is a valuable asset in the mac world.
so, the 14GB library makes perfect sense and I expect more free GBs for logic in the future... wonder why...
